The Role As a Radiation Therapist with UVA Health, you will be part of a dynamic and highly collaborative care team, delivering advanced radiation treatments while supporting patients throughout their cancer journey. This role blends technical expertise with compassionate patient interaction in a fast-paced, high-impact clinical setting. In an average day, you will: Deliver precise radiation therapy treatments using state-of-the-art technologies, ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards Collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, and nursing staff to coordinate individualized treatment plans Provide empathetic, patient-centered care, supporting patients and families through complex and emotional treatment journeys Operate advanced systems including: Varian TrueBeam with RapidArc, HyperSight, and Identify ViewRay MRIdian A3i for MRIguided radiation therapy Total skin electron therapy (TSET) Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with all clinical protocols and regulatory standards Contribute to a team culture rooted in trust, accountability, and collaboration, where therapists rely on one another and function as a cohesive unit You will be part of a team that includes a strong mix of experienced professionals, mid-career therapists, and new graduates, creating a supportive environment where knowledge sharing and mentorship happen naturally. Typically involves diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients, and often include face-to-face interactions with patients. May also spend some time designing and implementing clinical programs, policies, and services using specialized knowledge and skills. Specialty license or certification required which is acquired through advanced education, training and/or experience. This career stream will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory technologist jobs. Requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and require vocational or technical education. Works under moderate supervision. Problems are typically of a routine nature but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. Communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program. Experience: No experience required. Licensure: American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) certification within 6 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The pay range for this role is $37.47 - $59.95 hourly.
