What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:
This position is expected to start around August 2026 and continue through the entire Fall term (i.e. through December 2026) or into Spring 2027 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team

Tesla is looking for a highly motivated engineer to help accelerate the transition to renewableenergy. Battery materials manufacturing at a commercial scale presents many distinct challenges,many of which are BIM-related.This internship will focus on improving BIM documentation and play a major role in reality captureof current facilities to guide planning of next stage expansion projects.These efforts are designed to improve existing BIM standards and work processes within theCathode manufacturing organization. You will be responsible for maximizing the utility of our 3Dtools to more efficiently plan future installations. You will join a team focused on cathodemanufacturing and development. You will assist in the day-to-day needs of the Cathode Designteam and work closely with a senior engineer on future expansion projects. Work will also includeworking closely with operations, controls, and maintenance resources to support the Cathodemanufacturing plant as needed.


What You'll Do
  • Interface with both Cathode manufacturing resources and Gigafactory Texas BIM resources toimprove current systems and documentation
  • Work with BIM mentors to scan current process areas to help identify potential current and future clashes.
  • Work closely with mechanical and process engineers to ensure current BIM documentation is up to date

What You'll Bring
  • Progression toward a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or VirtualDesign and Construction preferred. Degrees in Construction Management and Architecture are also considered.
  • Evidence of exceptional ability, including a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to leverage this understanding to solve challenging technical problems.
  • Required Experience in: Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Plant 3D
  • Preferred Experience in: Revizto, Solidworks, Inventor, Fabrication CAD MEP, and ReCap
  • Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and communication skills.
  • Previous internship in a production scale environment is preferred.
