What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly experienced Fire Sprinkler Fitter to support new construction, expansion, & retrofit projects across advanced manufacturing facilities. This role is heavily focused on installation, system integration, & construction execution with secondary responsibilities supporting commissioning, testing, & turnover. The Sprinkler Fitter will work within a fast-paced, high-volume industrial construction environment, installing & delivering code-compliant fire protection systems including wet, dry, preaction, deluge, foam, & underground fire mains. The ideal candidate is field-driven, detail-oriented, & capable of executing safely under aggressive schedules while maintaining strict adherence to NFPA standards & Tesla construction quality expectations.
What You'll Do
- Interpreting construction drawings, BIM models, & NFPA specifications to install fire protection systems accurately
- Performing pipe fabrication & installation including cutting, threading, grooving, fitting, hangers, & seismic bracing
- Installing sprinkler systems (wet, dry, preaction, deluge, standpipes), underground fire mains, fire pumps, backflows, risers, & specialty valves
- Supporting system startup, commissioning, hydrostatic testing, flow testing, trip testing, & AHJ inspections
- Ensuring all installations meet NFPA 13, 14, 20, 24, 25, 291 standards, local AHJ requirements, & Tesla construction quality expectations while completing checklists, redlines, & turnover documentation
- Diagnosing & repairing installation-related issues, resolving punchlist items, & managing impairments during phased construction
- Operating safely in compliance with OSHA standards, site-specific safety protocols, LOTO procedures, elevated work, & confined space requirements
What You'll Bring
- Nevada State Fire Marshal G-Card & I-Card (or ability to obtain within reasonable time)
- 10+ years of experience in fire sprinkler installation with a construction focus
- Completion of a 5-year fire protection apprenticeship preferred
- Deep knowledge of NFPA 13, 24, 20, 25 & fire protection system hydraulics
- OSHA 10 certification (OSHA 30 strongly preferred)
- Ability to lift, carry, & maneuver 50+ lbs. While working safely at heights, in confined spaces, & physically demanding industrial construction environments
- Valid driver's license
