Job Description

The University of Missouri's School of Natural Resources seeks an experienced Business Support Specialist Sr to help manage post-award grants and other sponsored programs. This position will serve as lead staff for post-award management of departmental grant and contract activities, which includes direct responsibility for fiscal and other related functions.

Key duties will include:

Oversee the processing and monitoring of all post-award grant and sponsored programs activity within the School of Natural Resources

  • Review incoming and recurring grant awards to ensure proper set-up within the system, and work with the Principal Investigator (PI) to determine expenditure allowability and compliance requirements
  • Track and reconcile post-award budgets, grant expenditures, and provide status reports and financial statements when appropriate
  • Serve as liaison and work closely with PI's, SNR staff, and outside departments, to ensure all grant funded payroll is established and posted properly
  • Collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Programs representatives and PI to provide information, resolve problems, and/or coordinate communications
  • Assist faculty with all grant related non-catalog requisitions and equipment purchases
  • Assist PI's with reviewing campus Monthly Grant Financial Reports
  • Review monthly expenditures in the financial system for allowability and accuracy
  • Recommend and process appropriate expense corrections as needed per the budget and allowability
  • Ensure timely closeout of all expired projects in coordination with OSPA and division faculty and staff

Other related fiscal duties as assigned.

Monday - Friday

8am - 5pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with external grant funding

Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft and Excel

Attention to detail

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $19.25 - $28.00 hourly

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
