Wieland is hiring a Controls Engineer. The Controls Engineer primary focus is to guide, specify, implement and administer SCADA, HMI and PLC integration solutions, with emphasis on development and integration of manufacturing equipment for data driven solutions. Software development includes SCADA, HMI, and PLCs with integration to Oracle databases for storage and retrieval of key data elements. Proficiency with legacy and cutting-edge technologies ensure that the Company is leveraging the most effective platforms for increased productivity, safety, and profitability. This role is located in Carol Stream, IL and will be fully on-site. While this role is local, occasional travel to other locations will be required (15-25% travel).

Base Salary Range: $89,000 to $92,000

May be eligible for a variable compensation plan bonus based upon company performance within fiscal year cycle.

Responsibilities

Controls Engineer Responsibilities:

    • Guide, Specify, implement and administer SCADA, HMI and PLC integration solutions
    • Electrical, software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems. Able to maintain project scope, schedules, budgets and prevent project creep
    • Support specifying, manufacturing and validating of systems which include hydraulics, pneumatics, servos, motor drives, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, digital and analog I/O and robotics
    • Create documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams and various types of drawings
    • Specify, install and maintain additional data acquisition, monitoring and reporting solutions to provide accurate information to key stakeholders
    • Provide technical support and training to Maintenance, Safety, and Production as needed
    • Act as liaison between Engineering & IT in Support of manufacturing initiatives
    • Serve as a mentor to new engineers and interns
    • All other duties as assigned

Controls Engineer Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related
    • 3 to 5 Years related job experience
    • Proficient with MS Office, iFix, Visual Basic, Modicon and Allen Bradley PLC/PAC/IPC, CAD, Microsoft SQL, Database Management, Ethernet Networking, SCADA & HMI systems, Siemens PLCs
    • Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals
    • Strong fundamental knowledge of electrical control and power system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection and communication systems
