Under the supervision of clinical and administrative leadership, the Medical Assistant II provides comprehensive clinical and administrative support for a busy ambulatory surgery practice. Responsibilities include patient rooming and flow management, assisting with specialized surgical and diagnostic procedures, specimen handling, instrument care and sterilization, appointment coordination, inventory management, Epic documentation, and cross-coverage support. The role works closely with providers across multiple surgical specialties-including Colon & Rectal Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, Breast Surgery, and Plastic Surgery-to ensure high-quality patient care, efficient clinic operations, and a safe, patient-centered environment. Strong organizational skills, clinical proficiency, discretion, and the ability to work independently are essential.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS Certification]

Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Preferred

Experience
Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations.
- Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Managing one's own time and the time of others.
