Location: Houston, Texas

Brief Description: The City Sales & Marketing Representative Lead will lead strategic engagement with executive stakeholders and key customer organizations across the designated region. This position requires strong commercial acumen with strategic oversight of customer agreements, commercial performance, and account management. This position will be expected to develop and execute strategic customer growth initiatives that expand market share, strengthen customer partnerships, and accelerate adoption of drilling technology and performance solutions. This position reports to the Vice President, Sales and Marketing - Houston.

Detailed Description:

  • Lead a comprehensive understanding and strategic positioning of PTEN Rig Technologies and Services, including but not limited to:

    • PTEN+ Performance Center Platform & Analytical Tools

    • Alternative Power Solutions & Various ESG Initiatives

    • Drilling Optimization / Performance Drilling Collaboration

    • APEX Rig Design and Operating Systems

    • Cortex Platform and functional applications

    • Alignment among various PTEN Operated Service Companies (i.e. MS Directional & Superior QC)

  • Interface directly with all stakeholders, both internally and externally, to act as a sales champion for rig lines, technical products / services, and performance optimization initiatives for regional area

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to customer leadership teams by aligning drilling performance, automation technologies, operational objectives, and commercial solutions with customer business goals.
  • Use professional sales communication, strong business acumen, and executive presence in regular meetings with customer representatives and organizations.
  • Develop and execute regional strategic growth initiatives focused on performance drilling, technology integration, customer retention, and market expansion.

  • The candidate should have experience within the onshore O&G industry, strong communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of motivation/work ethic and a proven track record in management of a diverse customer base.

  • Use professional sales communication, have or develop a strong business acumen, and engage in regular meetings with customer representatives and organizations

  • Initiate and execute on "cold calls" in order to build upon and/or expand regional customer mix

  • Maintain accountability for contract closure and sustain a high utilization of rig / product solutions

  • Effectively utilize commercial strategies to maximize contractual terms and conditions

  • Successfully manage difficult situations and proactively engage in conflict resolution

  • Collaborates with cross functional teams within PTEN organization to create value propositions and promote positive narrative across organization and customer interface

  • Develops strong network between Performance Drilling & Automation / Technology teams

  • Work closely alongside operational teams and the customer to improve key performance indicators (KPI's); monitoring and analyzing drilling operations data for their assigned rigs.

  • Develop and utilize market intelligence for competitive benchmarking and forecasting

  • Driving overall operational excellence and a safe work environment within respective teams and promoting across the multiple interfaces with the customer

  • Represent the Company and our values with integrity while maintaining the highest ethical and legal standards with all customer interactions.

  • Fully understand and leverage Company's competitive advantages across a broad customer base

Job Requirements:

  • Complex Accounts and Enterprise Customer Leadership

  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key stakeholders, navigate multi-layered decision-making processes, and drive revenue growth through consultative selling and long-term account planning.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies that align with organizational goals and drive sustainable revenue growth.

  • Proven experience leading high-performing teams, identifying market opportunities, establishing strategic priorities, and translating business objectives into actionable plans.

  • Able to retain and thoroughly learn the details of our business quickly through various available resources

  • Analyze complex sales / negotiating cycles / identify opportunities for pricing improvement and find customer orientated solutions
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and networking skills and proven track record in successfully influencing a wide variety of people and situations

  • Proficiency with presentations, written and email communication including use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)

  • Demonstrate financial responsibility in adherence to the Company's travel and entertainment policy.

  • Ability to work variable work hours including regular after-hours, weekend, and holiday commitments as well as regular travel within and outside assigned region.

  • Rig & Technology Products

    • Comprehensive understanding of PTEN performance & automation technologies

    • Comprehensive understanding of all rig types/performance thereof and development of technical solutions and PTEN+ applications\

    • Strong understanding of drilling optimization, rig technologies, automation systems, performance analytics, and commercial contract strategy, as well as operational protocol.
    • Engage and leverage Company's state of the art rig / technology advantages across PTEN organization and broad customer base

  • Contracts

    • Accountable for administering and executing commercial MSA's/Contracts to gain exposure and share across regional customer mix

    • Excellent verbal and thorough written skills to communicate clearly and work through complex commercial agreements alongside legal team

    • Demonstrated experience leading complex customer relationships, commercial negotiations, and strategic account initiatives.

    • Strong computer skills and other business systems such as Oracle, Internal Management System as well as use of smart phones, laptops, and tablets

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Management, Marketing, or other Business focused degree

  • 10+ years Oil & Gas industry experience, including 7+ years in business development, technical sales, drilling operations, strategic account leadership, or related commercial leadership experience.
  • Eligible to drive Company or personal vehicle for Company purposes including ability to meet requirements of Company's Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with KPI analytics, automation technologies, enterprise accounts, or large commercial negotiations.

Additional Details:

This position requires the person to work in both office and field locations and travel to a wide variety of customer locations. Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
