This position is part of the Services to Enhance Early Development (SEED) program. This clinician provides relationship-based, trauma and culturally informed mental health services to court dependent children ages 0-3, their families, and caregivers primarily in a community based setting. This position and program work collaboratively with Alameda County Child Welfare with young children in foster care until a permanent plan is reached and mental health concerns have been stabilized.

Department Description:

As part of the Services to Enhance Early Development (SEED) program, you will offer trauma-informed and culturally sensitive mental health support to children aged 0-3 and their caregivers, primarily in community settings. This role involves collaboration with Alameda County Child Welfare to assist young children in foster care until a permanent plan is established and their mental health is stabilized.


  • Provide relationship-based, trauma-informed therapy to court-dependent children and their families.
  • Offer mental health assessments, interventions, and support to address the unique needs of young children in foster care.
  • Collaborate with Alameda County Child Welfare to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Engage in community-based work, building relationships with families and caregivers to ensure effective support.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and treatment plans.
  • Attend regular team meetings and provide clinical supervision to less experienced staff.
  • Stay updated with the latest research and best practices in early childhood mental health.
  • Participate in outreach and education initiatives to promote the SEED program and its services.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all clients and their families.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree or doctoral degree in related area and 3+ yrs related work experience; and/or equivalent experience.
  • Licensed in a clinical behavioral health discipline
  • Strong skills in providing individual and group behavioral therapy, behavioral analysis and / or educational interventions.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws and ethical standards associated with profession.
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication. Demonstrated active listening, persuasion and counseling skills.
  • Strong skills in collaborating with heath care providers, PIs and community partners.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of business software, specialized applications and EHR systems used in behavioral health clinics / clinical departments.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensed in a clinical behavioral health discipline
