Job Description:

The Knowledge & Innovation Attorney will work with the firm's transactional practices, leadership teams, and business support professionals-across business, finance, and real estate-to (i) develop and execute an AI transformation and knowledge strategy, (ii) manage the creation and maintenance of practice resources, with a focus on building new AI-enabled workflows and making existing resources accessible through AI tools, and (iii) foster strong adoption of AI tools across the transactional practices by ensuring the practice-facing technology stack remains best-in-class and by engaging in ongoing education and enablement efforts.

As a member of the Knowledge & Innovation (K&I) team, the K&I Attorney may be called upon to contribute to other K&I and Technology department efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.

Knowledge and AI Transformation Strategy

  • Assess the knowledge and AI transformation needs of the transactional practices, support practice leaders in defining and iterating on a unified plan to meet those needs, and help execute that plan.

  • Capture feedback and measure adoption, time savings, and other ROI metrics for continuous improvement of AI and other strategic K&I products and processes.

  • Stay informed about market trends, AI tools, and technology developments applicable to the transactional practices, surfacing opportunities as the landscape evolves.

  • Collaborate with other attorneys and business professionals on firm-wide K&I initiatives, promoting cross-practice alignment and economies of scale.

Knowledge Content, Workflow Development and Management

  • Work with practice group committees and leadership to further develop K&I resources, such as templates, checklists, precedent collections, and other know-how where needed, and embed these resources into tailored AI workflows that can be deployed at scale.

  • Follow project management best practices when identifying, developing, testing, and promoting content suitable for automation or use in AI tools.

  • Engage directly in the building and testing of large or complex AI workflows, while also providing coaching, consultation and oversight to associates, attorney working groups and support staff building AI resources-ensuring adherence to firm AI governance and policy requirements.

  • Organize and curate practice sites on the firm intranet or other resource-sharing platforms to promote and make accessible the highest value content.

Practice Group Outreach, Enablement and Education

  • In partnership with attorney development and technology training teams, support practitioner training efforts for specific AI tools, K&I resources, and general AI use best practices, and identify and cultivate attorneys within the practices who will champion K&I transformation efforts.

  • Be an ambassador for the adoption of AI- and K&I-oriented technologies to better integrate technology into the practice, and partner with marketing and business development professionals when appropriate to highlight the firm's AI transformation efforts to clients and prospective clients.

  • Actively contribute to a culture of experimentation and leverage the firm's knowledge and AI capabilities in new and creative ways.

Practice Group Liaison and Concierge

  • Assist practitioners in locating and applying practice-related internal and external knowledge resources, AI tools, and technologies, and support partners on periodic client-facing AI conversations as requested.

  • Participate in evaluation, piloting, rollout planning, and ongoing adoption strategy for new and innovative AI, K&I, and research tools and resources based on transactional practice needs.

  • Contribute to AI, K&I, and other innovation projects for the transactional practices.

SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED

  • Strategic thinking paired with strong execution skills, project management discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for attorneys and to translate legal concepts for technologists.

  • Ability to analyze a problem or project quickly and accurately, develop creative solutions, and demonstrate a bias toward action.

  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and relationships, lead change, and engage stakeholders and influence outcomes without formal authority.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Working fluency with AI and related technology concepts (e.g., large language models, agents, APIs, and MCP connectors at a conceptual level). Fluency in standard MS Office applications and ability to quickly master new collaboration, AI, and similar software and tools. Knowledge of other Microsoft apps, including Power Apps, Power BI, and SharePoint, is a plus. Experience with document assembly and collaboration technologies is also a plus.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and self-direct.

  • Ability to allocate resources to meet competing demands.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's and Juris Doctorate degrees.

  • Five-plus years of experience practicing in a transactional practice (such as mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, finance, real estate, or technology transactions).

  • Successful track record in client service.

  • Hands-on experience with legal AI tools and AI workflow building is required.

  • Prior knowledge and innovation experience is preferred.

  • Managerial, program management, or project management experience is strongly preferred.

This position may be filled in the following location(s).The listed compensation range reflects the typical pay for this role, though it is rare for new hires to receive an offer at the top of the range.Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.

San Francisco Bay Area compensation range: $215,370 to $387,810 annually

Colorado compensation range: $168,730to $303,830annually

Illinois compensation range: $178,080 to $320,660 annually

Los Angeles compensation range: $196,500 to $353,830 annually

San Diego compensation range: $194,010 to $349,350 annually

New York compensation range: $195,790 to $352,550 annually

Washingtonstate compensation range: $177,990 to $320,500 annually

Washington,D.C.compensation range: $192,230 to $346,140 annually
