Purpose of Position

Provides assistance and training in regards to mechanical applications on In-Service Training Devices. Develops concepts that are applied to In-Service Training Devices in regards to mechanical aspects. Produces various documentation in support of the In-Service Training Devices. Implements and validates designs to address obsolescence.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • These positions provide technical support regarding mechanical aspects to FlightSafety centers and outside customers.
  • Evaluate customer/FlightSafety sites data from MACAR's/Engineering Support Request and formulate an analysis of problems/write ups.
  • Will assist, instruct and teach mechanical applications to personnel located at various centers by either verbal, written, or on site demonstrations.
  • Produces various documentations such as but not limited to: Service Bulletins, component evaluation, reports, and proposals, etc.
  • Develops and validates mechanical designs/concepts applied to In-Service Training Devices.
  • Will research various publications and develop reports, concepts and application methods in support of In-Service Training Devices.
  • Will provide planning for various projects assigned such as but not limited to modifications, obsolescent developments, simulator relocations, etc.
  • Will be responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of various database related to mechanical concerns such as but not limited to Oil Sampling Results traced on In-Service Training Devices.
  • Coordinates and assists in simulator relocation requirements upon request of SOS management.Encompassing but not limited to scheduling manpower, shipping, directions rigging crews, pre tear down evaluations. Individual will also be responsible for the mechanical aspect of the reinstallation in accordance to Simulation Systems standards.
  • Reviews proposed mechanical modifications from engineering and subcontractors for design and implementation feasibility.
  • Extensive travel, moment notice travel, shift work, and overtime may be required to accomplish some of the above tasks.
  • This position requires 24 hour on call 7 day a week. After hours calls requires the ability to remotely repair in order to restore FlightSafety built training device to full operation.
Minimum Education
  • High school diploma
Minimum Experience
  • 10 years' experience in simulation; or A&P plus 8 years' experience in simulation; or Associates in Mechanical engineering or Mechanical engineering technology with 5 years' simulation experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook required.
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint and Project.
  • Familiarity with FSI-SIMS and engineering drawings is a plus.
