DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES

Experience/Training in a healthcare setting preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience - Six (6) to eight (8) years of experience required in the electrical field or in general building maintenance and repair; supervisory skills and experience required.

Education/Training - Requires educational background normally equivalent to high school plus 2 years of formal technical training in the principles of electricity and electrical designs.

Valid NC Electrical License required.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

Work Performed




  • Supervise and participate in the construction, installation, renovation, modification, and repair of electrical appliances, systems, facilities and related electronic controls and devices by interpreting blueprints, manufacturers specifications, written and verbal instructions. Plan and schedule work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.
  • Provide project management for certain electrically oriented projects that require specific and direct supervision of construction and renovation activities.
  • Ensure that employees and contract labor are properly trained to perform duties; ensure a safe work environment; ensure compliance with Duke Health and JCAHO safety regulations.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of records to comply with applicable regulations and codes.
  • Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
  • Supervise various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation scheduling.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $28.88 to USD $45.83.
