Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems across hospital and facility environments. This entry-level role provides hands-on training in refrigeration, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical systems while supporting experienced technicians. Work Arrangement - On-site DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES Trade training preferred Basic mechanical or HVAC knowledge Ability to use hand and power tools Basic computer skills (work orders, Microsoft Office) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Training - Work requires an educational background normally equivalent to high school with course work in skilled craft or trades training. Experience - Work requires 2 years' experience in charging small refrigeration appliances, changing compressors, belts and valves, and adjusting and calibrating temperature and humidity controls. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE. Position also requires a valid driver's license with clean driving record. Be Bold. Key Responsibilities Perform basic HVAC maintenance and repairs (filters, belts, coils, motors, etc.) Assist with troubleshooting refrigeration, electrical, and control systems Use meters and gauges to check voltage, amps, and system pressures Read wiring diagrams and follow technical instructions Work from ladders, rooftops, and mechanical spaces Complete work orders, documentation, and parts ordering using computer systems Choose Duke. Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $19.83 to USD $32.88.
