Description Role Overview American Express is seeking an experienced Back End Java Engineer to join the Customer360 - Customer Domain team. This team is responsible for building and enhancing services that support a holistic, enterprise wide view of customers. This is a 100% hands on engineering role, focused on designing, developing, and delivering high quality backend APIs. The ideal candidate is a strong Java developer who enjoys working end to end-from analysis and design through implementation, testing, and delivery-and is comfortable working in a fast paced, highly technical environment. ________________________________________ Projects & Team Part of the Customer360 Customer Domain Supporting new REST API development Building backend services that integrate customer data across platforms Working closely with other engineers, architects, and product partners within the Customer360 ecosystem ________________________________________ Day to Day Responsibilities Perform hands on backend development using Java Participate in requirement analysis and technical design Develop and enhance RESTful APIs Implement asynchronous and non blocking processing patterns Write clean, maintainable, and well tested code Conduct unit testing and support integration testing Collaborate with team members on design decisions and implementation approaches Troubleshoot and resolve issues across application layers Ensure code quality, performance, and scalability Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices ________________________________________ Required Technical Skills 3-+ years of professional experience as a Java Engineer (ideally 5+) Strong experience building RESTful APIs Hands on experience with asynchronous programming in Java oNon blocking or concurrent processing oAsync service-to-service communication Experience working with databases, including: oSQL databases (e.g., relational databases) oNoSQL databases (e.g., document or key value stores) Strong understanding of backend development best practices Experience performing analysis, design, coding, and testing independently ________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Experience working in large enterprise environments Exposure to customer data or customer identity domains Familiarity with modern backend architectures Ability to thrive in hybrid onsite/remote work models Strong problem solving and communication skills ________________________________________ Work Environment Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite per week in Sunrise, FL Collaborative team setting supporting long term enterprise initiatives Stable, long term engagement (3+ years) ________________________________________ Skills Java, Rest, Api Top Skills Details Java,Rest,Api Additional Skills & Qualifications N/A Experience Level Expert Level Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Sunrise, FL.
