Project Cost Specialist

The Project Cost Specialist is responsible for managing the budget for new model programs from appropriation approval through project closure. The position will interact with Vehicle Process Engineering, Product Engineering, Purchasing, Industrial Strategy, and Manufacturing Finance on all matters relating to new model investment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:




  • Serving as single point of contact for program investment


  • Establishing Project Funding (appropriation request creation) & Tracking Status to Budget


  • Reviewing and assigning appropriate accounting classification to requisitions


  • Leading weekly investment status meetings with program execution teams and escalating investment concerns


  • Leading requisition approval meetings with stakeholders


  • Forecasting program spend and performing variance analysis


  • Determining corporate program liability / identify program favorability


  • Leading periodic reviews with manufacturing executing leadership


  • Supervising investment analyst


  • Utilizing SAP and MS Office applications


  • Working closely with VPE execution teams to ensure issuance of commitments consistent with program timing.


  • Developing and improving work methods.



Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3 or more years of Automotive experience


  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power point)


  • Excellent communication and computer skills

  • Excellent problem solving/analytical skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team and interface with all levels of management and labor


  • Highly motivated self-starter and change agent



Preferred Qualifications:




  • Working Knowledge of MEDDs, PentaSAP, Manufacturing Portal, and MCE Global Portal
