Corrections Utility Plant Operator - SCI Chester

This position maintains and operates boilers, generators, and related equipment to ensure consistent utility services within the facility. It involves monitoring system performance, completing maintenance tasks, and documenting daily activities. As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will perform the following duties:

• Boiler Operation: Operate and maintain boilers under normal and emergency conditions
• Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and service pumps, fans, and other auxiliary systems
• Water Testing: Test boiler water chemistry and manage treatment supplies
• General Housekeeping: Keep the plant area clean and complete daily inventories
• Daily Communication: Report concerns to supervisors and complete required paperwork

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Sunday - Thursday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
