NATURE AND SCOPE
This position reports to the Manager, Mortgage Loan Processing. The Mortgage Loan Processor confirms completion for certain applications for mortgage loans. Orders any and all reports pertinent to each loan file. Gathers and organizes all necessary documentation based on investor guidelines for submission to underwriting and communicates with members if additional information is needed. Communicates with Mortgage Loan Underwriting and Mortgage Loan Originators to address issues with loan documentation as they arise.
REQUIREMENTS
1. High school diploma or equivalent and one year of Landmark experience, or two years of experience in mortgage lending. Combination of education and experience will also be considered.
2. Demonstrated knowledge in all types of mortgage loans and in appraisal review.
3. Experience or have the ability to gain proficiency in all programs and systems used for this job including Microsoft Office products and systems related to mortgage lending.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
5. Proven ability to organize work, balance multiple priorities, manage a variety of projects in a fast-paced, flexible work environment with strong attention to detail and within defined deadlines.
6. Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment and discretion in various situations while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
7. Bilingual proficiency preferred but not required (English/Spanish)
8. Must develop a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as they relate to the position. Must comply with all company policies and procedures and job-related state and federal laws and regulations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Orders appraisal, title work, and all required reports necessary to support each loan file.
2. Monitors mortgage files based on investor guidelines and desktop underwriter. Follows up for all necessary documentation to submit to underwriting in order to meet loan commitment and rate lock expiration dates.
3. Reviews title commitments upon receipt. Obtains necessary endorsements or documents to ensure clear title.
4. Reviews appraisals upon receipt for completion and accuracy. Follows appraisal delivery requirements.
5. Maintains ongoing communication with mortgage loan officers and staff regarding file progress, promptly escalating and addressing any issues as they arise.
6. Collaborates with internal departments and external partners to obtain payoff statements, tax return transcripts, and required verification documents. Proactively manages timelines to ensure all submission requirements, underwriting decisions, and loan closings are completed within established deadlines.
7. Updates desktop underwriter program when necessary.
8. Reviews credit reports, income documentation and asset documentation.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
