Position Summary Performs routine and the more complex imaging examinations in Diagnostic Radiology on a scheduled and emergency basis following departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations. Actively participates in training of clinical staff. Acts as a mentor to less experienced staff. Participates in operational duties assigned by and under the direction of the manager. Key Responsibilities
- Examinations/Procedures
- Performs the more complex imaging examinations while providing a safe environment for patients.
- Reviews and evaluates requisitions for Diagnostic imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
- Identify patients according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers.
- Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
- Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develop a care plan for that patients' specific needs.
- Explain the examination and is able to answer questions from patient and parents regarding the exam and Radiation exposure, practices ALARA.

- Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application.

- Assists in organizing and maintaining daily operations.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Modality Manager, Chief Technologist or Assistant Chief Technologist i.e., such as ordering supplies, QA/QC projects, lead inventory, etc.

- Helps with new departmental /hospital initiatives.

- Training
- Trains fellows, residents, students and staff in imaging procedures and techniques.
- Acts as a mentor to less experienced staff

Minimum Qualifications Education:
- Associates degree in Allied Health, Bachelors preferred
Experience:
- 3 years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology
Licensure/ Certifications:
- Current MA Radiologic Technologist
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- BLS Certification
