Position Summary
Business Manager, Operations for the foundation is responsible for the HR duties for foundation employees including onboarding process, leave administration and compliance. This role is also charged with project management and continuous improvement for different facets of the organization including business, clinical and administrative. Works closely with foundation senior leadership to engage a variety of stakeholders to diagnose organizational issues and to offer problem solving techniques which will favorably impact workflows and enhance analytical capabilities. Position will also develop and help implement initiatives to meet long term business goals.
Key responsibilities
- Oversees HR benefits for foundation W-2 employees. Serves as the liaison for benefit related questions and coordinates the leave of absence and PTO for foundation employees. May be responsible for maintaining and updating HR related documents including foundation HR employee manual
- Handles the onboarding process for foundation W-2 and per diem employees and responsible for the communication of this process to participants. When requested by foundation leadership, assists external parties with the development/enhancement of the onboarding process.
- Manage payroll administration for faculty physicians and per diem staff utilizing ADP, including employee onboarding, compensation and benefit deductions, multi-state payroll considerations, payroll reconciliations, reporting, and compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- May require the oversight of the annual bonus process for foundation W-2 employees, which would include the coordination of needed preparation time to review annual results with Chief and Executive Administrator Director.
- Serves as the in-house process improvement consultant to leadership, supervisors and managers on various projects, which includes the use of technology to minimize manual input and enhance throughput. Assists with the development and implementation of business and clinical initiatives to ensure alignment with short and long term strategy.
- Responsible for retrieving data and performing analysis to support operations and benchmarking initiatives. Duties may include compensation and benefit analysis for recruitment and retention purposes; performing annual analysis on use of OR time and allocating block time across foundation faculty; and communicating data and other findings to various stakeholders within the foundation and at BCH.
- Oversees the application of the various business agreements and offer letter templates to ensure consistency in contract language. If requested, may works with outside counsel and, as needed, with Children's Hospital general counsel to ensure legal and regulatory compliancy.
- Coordinates the annual renewal of business insurances for both MA and multi-state locations. Serves as principal point of contact for insurance related questions and requests.
- Develops policies, procedures and functions for sound business practices. Manages modification of these as necessary.
Minimum qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years of previous experience.
- Experience using ADP payroll or similar application preferred.
- Analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources and the ability to condense material into a format that can be easily digested by various stakeholders.
- Ability to use excel and other data visualization tools.
- Ability to identify complex organizational issues and to creatively apply project management and problem-solving solutions to enhance systems and workflows for the betterment of the organization and its end-users.
The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
