Department Overview
The University of California's Digital Innovation & Technology (UC DigIT) department powers the digital ecosystem that supports UC's academic, research, and administrative mission. As the systemwide digital engine, UC DigIT transforms complex enterprise systems, infrastructure, and security services into inclusive and human-centered solutions designed to meet challenges at UC scale.

Position Summary
Support and administer PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 environments hosted on AWS Cloud Services for the University of California Office of the President (UCOP). UCOP is seeking a lead-level PeopleSoft Administrator with experience supporting large-scale enterprise systems and some familiarity with MuleSoft integrations. This role supports mission-critical systems and projects with enterprise-wide impact across UC campuses, medical centers, and UCOP. The incumbent will serve as a technical lead responsible for the administration, maintenance, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise PeopleSoft environments and related technologies. Responsibilities include supporting high availability (HA) environments, load balancers, Oracle CPU patching, tax updates, PeopleSoft Tools upgrades, PUM cycles, and annual disaster recovery exercises in coordination with technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders. Core responsibilities include developing and implementing enterprise standards, operational procedures, security practices, and best practices supporting PeopleSoft HCM and related components, including Candidate Gateway, Talent Acquisition Management (TAM), Integration Broker, and associated upgrade activities. The position requires advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to support a large enterprise user population across multiple organizational units in a complex, high-impact environment. May occasionally be required, with notice, to provide remote on-call support during off hours. Occasional travel may also be required with notice.

Key Responsibilities

30% Designs, implements, and supports enterprise PeopleSoft systems and related technologies. Develops and maintains standards, procedures, and best practices supporting UCPath applications, including HCM Payroll, Candidate Gateway, Talent Acquisition Management (TAM), and Absence Management. Supports secure and reliable production environments and collaborates with vendors and UCOP technical teams to resolve complex issues. May support AWS-hosted MuleSoft applications and integration connectivity between UC systems. Leads implementation of new technologies, supports business-driven projects, and applies Oracle CPU patches and tax updates.

20% Provides advanced troubleshooting and technical support for PeopleSoft Internet Architecture (PIA) and related technologies, including Oracle databases, Tuxedo Application Servers, Process Schedulers, WebLogic, Integration Broker, BI Publisher, OpenSearch, SSL certificates, SSO, PeopleSoft Tools/PUM upgrades, and related infrastructure components. Supports migration of PeopleSoft objects using the PHIRE migration tool.

20% Manages and responds to ServiceNow requests, incidents, and changes. Performs system monitoring, log analysis, troubleshooting, and performance optimization across hosted applications and PeopleSoft environments. Evaluates hardware and software solutions, escalates issues to vendors as appropriate, and recommends process improvements and operational standardization opportunities.

15% Develops and maintains technical documentation, operational procedures, and disaster recovery (DR) processes. Provides on-call production support for critical applications as needed. Coordinates quarterly Oracle CPU patches, Tools patches, tax updates, and PHIRE migration tool patching. Supports UCPath projects, including Tools and PUM upgrades, production cutovers, and PeopleSoft refresh activities by coordinating with database, application development, release management, project teams, and business stakeholders.

15% Administers and maintains PeopleSoft security controls to prevent unauthorized access. Prepares quarterly security audit documentation for PeopleSoft service IDs and ensures periodic password maintenance and compliance with security standards.

Experience
Required Qualifications

  • Min 4 years of experience administering PeopleSoft HCM applications in a large enterprise environment, including experience supporting technologies such as SSO, Talent Acquisition Management (TAM), Integration Broker (IB), load balancers, and troubleshooting complex production issues.

  • Min 4 years of experience supporting PeopleSoft Tools and PUM upgrades, Oracle CPU patching, tax updates, and coordination with Oracle Support through Service Requests (SRs).

Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise supporting and troubleshooting PeopleSoft applications and related technologies in complex enterprise Unix/Linux environments, including Integration Broker, WebLogic, SSO, SSL certificates, COBOL, SQR, and related infrastructure components.

  • Strong understanding of PeopleSoft security administration, access controls, service IDs, and production support best practices.

  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions in a high-availability production environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical documentation, procedures, and reports.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet established deadlines, and function effectively in a lead technical support role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting PeopleSoft integrations and troubleshooting SOAP- and REST-based web services.

  • Experience supporting AWS-hosted enterprise applications and security vulnerability remediation activities.

  • Advanced collaboration and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise ERP environments in higher education or similarly complex organizations.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
