Position Overview

My client, awell-established non-profit organization is seeking a Senior Grant Accountant to oversee grant-related accounting, reporting, and compliance activities. This role will be responsible for managing multiple funding sources, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and supporting financial reporting for government and private funders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the accounting and financial reporting for federal, state, city, and private grants.

  • Monitor grant budgets, expenditures, and funding allocations to ensure compliance with grant agreements.

  • Prepare financial reports, reimbursement requests, and supporting documentation for funders.

  • Reconcile grant activity and maintain accurate financial records.

  • Work closely with program managers and leadership to track grant spending and budget performance.

  • Assist with audits, funder reviews, and regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with New York City, New York State, and federal grant regulations.

  • Support month-end and year-end close activities related to grants.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of grant accounting experience within a non-profit organization.

  • Strong experience managing New York State, New York City, federal, and state grants.

  • Familiarity with funding requirements from agencies such as DFTA, DYCD, OTDA, and other government funders.

  • Experience working with private foundation grants and restricted funding.

  • Strong understanding of grant compliance, reporting, and budget management.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Sage Intacct strongly preferred.

  • Non-profit accounting and fund accounting experience.

  • Experience supporting audits and grant monitoring reviews.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
