Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Catering and Concession General Manager, the Catering and Concessions Service Lead is responsible for assisting in the execution of catering and concession events daily. This position is responsible for providing and leading event operation support, providing excellent customer service, maintaining cashiering service standards and cash handling compliance. Additionally, this role will provide basic culinary support to the Catering and Concessions operation.

The Catering and Concessions Service Lead will ensure department service standards are met and business goals are attained. Provide mentorship to the catering service and culinary team and monitor adherence to customer service standards, and cash handling compliance.

This position will be expected to uphold the highest level of confidentiality as they will serve and lead private events.

Must be willing and able to drive all vehicles.

This position would additionally support other Dining units when in need of service assistance, including both Residential and Retail units.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • High school diploma and / or equivalent certification / experience / training
  • Experience in leading and serving in a high-volume catering, restaurant, or dining service-related field in the past 10 years.
  • Experience in leading food preparation.
  • Experience adjusting to shifting daily priorities and objectives.
  • Experience utilizing interpersonal communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with individuals of varying backgrounds and perspectives to resolve problems.
  • Experience using writing skills to prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, policies and procedures, agreements, training documents, and performance evaluations.
  • Experience setting up and taking down food/beverage service stations/buffets and serving formal plated meals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Food safety certified.
  • Experience using computerized systems, including food production/procurement systems, and time-keeping programs.
  • Experience in PCI & managing cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of related Federal, State, Local, and UC regulations.

Student Housing and Dining Services (SHDS) is a self-supporting auxiliary that provides housing and dining services to approximately 15,000 undergraduate, graduate, and students with families who live in on-campus residential facilities (university owned/managed and Public-Private-Partnerships), as well as providing residential, retail and catering dining services for the campus community. Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
