POSITION PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to provide quality assurance support to the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, in Ft. Detrick, Maryland.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Perform onsite quality assurance support tasks associated with the procurement and installation of, but not limited to, the UMCS / BAS / ESS as identified by the MRDC G9 Facilities staff for operations, repair and maintenance projects.
  • Evaluate schedules, perform documentation reviews.
  • Coordinate actions daily with the Facility Manager, Project Manager, and staff.
  • Attend meetings in support of the execution of operations, repair, and maintenance programs.
  • Provide an oral, weekly report to officials of project status.
  • Ensure availability at all times for all ongoing issues that arise.
  • Ensure conformance with all applicable codes, including, but not limited to, NFPA codes, BMBL, and AAALAC standards, CDC biosafety and biosecurity standards, and other agency criteria.
  • Coordinate with Facility Manager and facilities staff.
  • Complete field surveys to investigate existing layouts and conditions.
  • Provide updates and reports to COR or appropriate Government officials.
  • Coordinate with facility infection control officers to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with facility safety officers to implement effective safety policies.
  • Coordinate with laboratory staff to ensure proper reviews and notifications of projects and utility outages.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:


  • Minimum 10 Years' Experience in high-containment medical research facilities.
  • Minimum 10 Years' Experience in mechanical controls.
  • Minimum of an associate's degree in a technical discipline such as electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field.

Skills and Abilities:


  • Minimum 5 Years of Experience in Quality Assurance / Control at a biosafety laboratory
  • Experience with high containment (up to BSL4) in medical research, mechanical controls engineering, programming, installation, plumbing, and validation
  • Experience reviewing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performing Quality Control inspections of high containment (up to BSL4) in medical research design and construction projects
  • Experience with CDC auditing, accreditation, and certification processes for select agents and high containment (up to BSL4) in medical research facilities.
  • Trades (electrical, mechanical, controls) experience.
  • Proficient in Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and design.
  • Prior government construction experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Special Requirements:


  • Must currently hold a Secret security clearance.
