This role is located at our Distribution Center/1441 Warehouse and is only open to Internal Employees.

This role is 1st shift hours.

SUMMARY
This is a Quality Assurance position working in the warehouse and distribution center responsible for sampling all raw materials and contract bulk/finished goods, as well as ensuring labels on containers and documents received for these materials are accurate and consistent. Responsibilities also include sampling, evaluating, and releasing packaging components. This role requires the safe use of some or all of the following equipment: sit down and standup forklifts, order pickers, rider pallets, power pallet jacks, hand jacks, and pallet inverters. Job functions for QA Sampling require associates to drive personal vehicles for company business on a routine basis to ensure sampling tasks are completed for multiple company locations as well as delivering samples to the laboratory. Time management and ability to prioritize are essential skills to ensure tasks are completed in accordance with business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Following established statistical sampling plans for raw materials and contract bulk/finished goods:
    • Visually examine containers and finished products for appropriate labeling as to contents, container integrity, and for any contamination.
    • Operate forklift, hand jack, or powered material handling equipment as required to move materials.
    • Safely lift and stack cases or bags of materials to make available for sampling. Requires frequent lifting of 40 and up to 100 pounds.
    • Aseptically collect samples using appropriate PPE and following GMP's.
    • Organize documentation that is required to move along with samples.
  • Use SAP computer system to complete system moves of samples, evaluation forms, and release materials (such as packaging components and customer returns) that do not require lab testing.
  • Prioritize workload daily by first in and first out and urgent requests.
  • Drive personal vehicle to ensure sampling tasks are completed for multiple company locations and to deliver samples and paperwork to the laboratory.
  • Maintain library of reserve samples: data entry in Reserve Sample Database within SAP and filing the samples on library shelves for purchased finished goods.
  • Conduct special sampling requests.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and sampling booths. Maintain cleaning logs for all areas where sampling occurs.
  • Complete all job-related documentation timely and accurately.
  • Complete special projects as requested by your supervisor or manager.
  • Follow the proper Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and GMP guidelines at all times.
  • Complete all training requirements such as SOPs, work instructions, safety training, cGMP training, etc.
  • Build partnerships through teamwork and communication. Builds rapport with team members and networks with other departments for support.
  • Notify Supervisor or Manager if any discrepancies arise, such as but not limited to: safety, quality, operations, or health concerns.
  • Utilize computer programs that are required for job performance (i.e. SAP Software, Microsoft Suite, etc.)
  • Observe, recognize, and act upon continuous improvement opportunities as an individual, with teams, and/or Supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to operate a vehicle on behalf of the company by possessing a valid driver's license and meeting the driving standards of the Company's insurance carrier.
  • Ability to safely use some or all of the following equipment: sit down and standup forklifts, order pickers, rider pallets, power pallet jacks, hand jacks, and pallet inverters.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally move by pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be worn for this position includes, but not limited to: lab coat, hair net, beard net (if applicable), safety toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection and P100 respirator.
  • Demonstrated comfort and proficiency with computer systems. Prior SAP experience preferred.
  • Ability to flex start and/or end time to meet business needs may be required on occasion.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong computer literacy is essential.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Good sanitation and health habits are required.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with other departments.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize own workload.
  • High attention to detail.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Forklift certification, respirator training, PPE training, GMP training. All will be provided as company sponsored training.
