The Opportunity

Healthy Community Alliance is seeking a Director of Operations to partner closely with the CEO and leadership team in building the systems, processes, and organizational infrastructure that will support HCA's next chapter.

This is leadership role is for someone who enjoys improving how organizations work. You'll identify opportunities to make operations more efficient, build scalable processes, strengthen communication across teams, and help translate strategic priorities into day-to-day execution.

What You'll Do

As Director of Operations, you'll work across the organization to improve efficiency, strengthen internal systems, and support long-term organizational success.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and improving organizational systems, workflows, and operating procedures
  • Leading process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and collaboration
  • Developing performance metrics and reporting tools that support informed decision-making
  • Translating strategic plans into practical operational processes
  • Building scalable infrastructure that supports organizational growth
  • Leading cross-functional initiatives and special projects
  • Supporting program development and organizational planning alongside the CEO and leadership team
  • Creating systems that strengthen employee performance, accountability, and engagement
  • Promoting clear communication and collaboration across departments
  • Serving as a trusted operational partner to the CEO and leadership team

This position also participates in general office operations and other organizational initiatives as needed.

Location

This is a hybrid position based in Gowanda, New York. Regular travel throughout HCA's service area and occasional regional or statewide meetings are expected.

About Healthy Community Alliance

Healthy Community Alliance (HCA) is a nonprofit rural health network serving Cattaraugus County and parts of Chautauqua, Erie, and Wyoming counties. For nearly 30 years, HCA has brought together healthcare providers, government agencies, nonprofits, and community partners to improve health and quality of life across rural Western New York.

With a team of approximately 20 employees, HCA delivers direct services while also strengthening the region's health infrastructure through partnerships, fiscal sponsorship, and community collaboration. From maternal health and caregiver support to food access, insurance navigation, and aging services, HCA works to improve the systems that shape healthier communities.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

We're more interested in finding the right leader than checking every box, but successful candidates will typically bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in nonprofit operations, program management, healthcare administration, or a related leadership role
  • Demonstrated success improving operational systems, workflows, or organizational processes
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience leading projects across multiple teams and stakeholders
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence without relying on formal authority
  • Experience with grant requirements, quality improvement, or compliance is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
