JOB TYPE Classification: Exempt JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the UVACH Medical Group Chief Operating and Growth Officer, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) Inpatient and Primary Care, UVA Community Health Medical Group, is responsible for the operational management of all physician practices. This includes leading new program development, driving healthcare delivery innovations, and overseeing performance improvement initiatives that support the growth, quality, and positioning of a community-based medical group within an evolving academic health system. This leader will directly manage all Directors of Operations and ensure the team delivers on UVA Health's strategic goals and priorities. The AVP will lead efforts to improve access, reduce operational costs, enhance revenue performance, and meet quality and performance targets. They will also leverage data and analytics to support decision-making and operational excellence. The AVP will work in close partnership with physicians, advanced practice providers, administrative leaders, team members, and community stakeholders to foster collaboration, innovation, and shared accountability for outcomes. Success in this role requires the ability to work effectively within a matrixed organizational structure, managing expectations across multiple stakeholder groups and aligning operational efforts with the broader mission and vision of UVA Health. The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership experience in provider operations, with deep knowledge of Primary Care, Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, and other inpatient specialty services. They should possess strong expertise in managing physician practices within a community health system, including a solid understanding of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices. This individual will be a strategic and results-driven leader with a demonstrated ability to build programs, enhance infrastructure, influence diverse stakeholders, and lead complex organizational change in a fast-paced environment. This individual will demonstrate strong business acumen, exceptional ownership and accountability, and a relentless drive for operational excellence and organizational success.

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's Degree - Business/Healthcare Administration or related field; Master's Degree preferred. Experience: Five years of demonstrated leadership experience in relevant area of responsibility required. Experience in a for profit healthcare environment or an ambulatory surgical setting strongly preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. The base compensation range for this role is $190k - $230k, and eligible for an annual bonus incentive. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
