MBP is looking for a Senior Construction Inspector I to support ongoing Capital and Maintenance Reserve healthcare projects in Nottoway County, Virginia. Responsibilities
What You'll Do: Serve as a representative of the owner on-site by providing quality assurance, documentation, schedule and cost control, and coordinated support to ensure adherence to project requirements. Interface with contractors, clients, and project teams to monitor compliance while upholding high standards of quality and integrity. Responsibilities include:
Represents the client on-site to facilitate compliance, documentation, and progress reporting
- Performs on-site inspections to monitor conformity with contract requirements, specifications, and codes
- Conducts field checks of as-built plans for accuracy
- Develops and reviews monthly and semi-final progress estimates and payment applications
- Communicates with contractors regarding discrepancies and recommends corrective actions
- Collects, records, and analyzes results from materials testing for contract compliance
- Performs basic surveying and measurements to verify line, grade, and dimension requirements
- Maintains project records, daily reports, calculations, and photographs
- Supports the preparation of punch lists and monitors completion of corrective actions
- Coordinates and tracks submittals, RFIs, and project communications
- Monitors budgets and schedules and assists in contractor performance evaluations
- Attends project meetings and provides progress updates
- Adheres to client and regulatory requirements regarding safety and quality processes
Who We Are Looking For Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in construction inspection, construction management, engineering, or related fields
- Hands-on experience with quality control, quality assurance, and construction compliance oversight
- Exposure to multiple sectors including buildings, transportation, healthcare, education, or public infrastructure
- Proven track record interpreting plans, specifications, and contract documents to support project success
Qualifications
Education/Knowledge:
- High school diploma or GED; equivalent experience in construction, engineering, or related technical disciplines
- Completion of construction-related training or coursework demonstrating competency in relevant tasks
- Must possess or obtain OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification within 3 months of hire
- Proficiency with mathematical calculations including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry based on field measurements
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with construction management systems such as Procore, AWP, HICAM, or MBP's OnTrack, or ability to learn quickly
- Knowledge of Virginia Construction and Professional Services Manual (CPSM) preferred
- Understanding of materials, tools, and construction methods for assigned scope
Preferred Certifications:
- CMAA Certification and CACM (Certified Associate Construction Manager) preferred
- CMIT (Construction Manager in Training) Level 1 through Level 4 preferred
- Ability to obtain required certifications from the appropriate client agency
Skills and Abilities:
- Skilled at implementing quality control procedures with minimal supervision
- Capable of reading and interpreting plans and specifications accurately
- Proficient in analyzing data and preparing detailed documentation and reports
- Strong leadership and technical mentoring ability for junior staff and interns
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with clients, contractors, and team members
- Ability to recognize project risks early and provide actionable recommendations
- Competent in applying mathematical formulas and engineering concepts to field adjustments
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather, climb ladders, and navigate uneven terrain
- Ability to maintain valid driver's license and good driving record for regular project travel
Guidance/Responsibility:
- Operates with independence under general direction from a Team Leader or Group Manager
- Provides strategic input for compliance, budgeting, and schedule monitoring
- Serves as a liaison between field operations and project management teams to keep stakeholders informed
- Contributes to overall quality and efficiency of assigned projects through proactive coordination
Supervisory:
- Provides oversight, technical guidance, and mentorship to junior inspectors, interns, or co-ops
- Reports to the Team Leader or Group Manager and collaborates closely with project leadership

Status: Full-time The base hourly rate for this position is $34.00 to $41.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Requirements:
