Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior International SOF Support SME to provide senior-level operational and strategic support to the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) J3 International (J3-I) Division. This position supports USSOCOM's mission to strengthen global Special Operations Forces (SOF) partnerships, enhance multinational interoperability, and advance international Special Operations cooperation in support of U.S. national security objectives.

The Senior International SOF Support SME will serve as a trusted advisor to USSOCOM leadership, providing expert guidance on international SOF operations, multinational planning, partner nation capability development, theater security cooperation, and combined special operations. The successful candidate will leverage extensive operational experience gained through senior leadership assignments within U.S. Army Special Forces, Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), NATO SOF Headquarters, and combined joint special operations environments to support planning, synchronization, and execution of complex international initiatives.

Working closely with USSOCOM leadership, Geographic Combatant Commands, TSOCs, U.S. Embassies, NATO partners, and allied Special Operations Forces, this individual will help strengthen international relationships, improve interoperability, and advance global SOF objectives in support of USSOCOM priorities.

This position is located onsite at USSOCOM Headquarters, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.



Duties & Responsibilities

The Senior International SOF Support SME will:

    Provide senior-level operational, strategic, and advisory support to the USSOCOM J3 International Division.
  • Advise Government leadership on international SOF operations, multinational planning, and partner nation engagement strategies.
  • Support planning, synchronization, and execution of multinational special operations activities, exercises, and engagements.
  • Develop strategic recommendations that strengthen international SOF partnerships and improve coalition interoperability.
  • Coordinate with Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), Geographic Combatant Commands (GCCs), NATO SOF Headquarters, U.S. Embassies, and partner nation organizations.
  • Support development of operational plans, campaign plans, theater strategies, and international engagement initiatives.
  • Participate in senior-level planning conferences, working groups, operational reviews, and executive briefings.
  • Provide expertise on Special Operations doctrine, foreign military capabilities, multinational command relationships, and coalition operations.
  • Develop executive-level correspondence, briefing materials, decision papers, and strategic recommendations for senior USSOCOM leadership.
  • Analyze operational requirements, emerging threats, and international opportunities to support informed decision-making.
  • Facilitate collaboration between U.S. and allied SOF organizations to strengthen interoperability and mission effectiveness.
  • Provide subject matter expertise supporting combined joint special operations, multinational planning, and partner force development.
  • Support knowledge transfer, continuity of operations, and preservation of institutional knowledge across the J3 International Division.
  • Maintain awareness of current Department of Defense policies, international security initiatives, and Special Operations priorities.


Qualifications

Clearance Requirement

  • Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility required.

Education

  • Master's degree in International Relations or a closely related field.

Experience (Required)

  • Minimum of 15 years of combined experience as a senior U.S. Army Special Forces officer supporting Special Operations missions.
  • Former O-5 or above Army Special Forces officer with experience supporting operations and partner nation development at the O-6 Command, Theater Special Operations Command (TSOC), or NATO SOF Headquarters level.
  • Graduate of the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) or an equivalent military operational planning program.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of recent (within the last five years) combat or operational experience supporting a Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force (CJSOTF) or TSOC staff.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working directly with coalition Special Operations Forces and international military partners.
  • Graduate of Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Level II or equivalent professional military education.
  • Extensive experience supporting multinational planning, international engagements, partner force development, and coalition operations.
  • Demonstrated experience advising senior military leaders on operational and strategic matters.

Certifications

Required

  • Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Level II (or equivalent).
  • Graduate of the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) or equivalent advanced military planning course.
