The Project Coordinator serves as a frontline leader within the Project Management Office (PMO), providing direct oversight, coaching, and support for a team of Project Managers responsible for delivering organizational initiatives. This role is accountable for promoting consistent project management practices, ensuring adherence to PMO standards, and fostering the professional development of project management staff.

The Project Coordinator acts as an escalation point for project-related challenges, helping remove barriers, facilitate stakeholder alignment, and support successful project delivery across the portfolio. Working closely with Project Managers, organizational leaders, and PMO leadership, this position provides guidance on project planning, governance, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and documentation requirements.

In addition to people leadership responsibilities, the Project Coordinator is responsible for monitoring project health, reviewing portfolio performance, identifying emerging risks and resource constraints, and ensuring projects maintain accurate and timely documentation. The role promotes accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence while helping Project Managers navigate complex organizational initiatives.

Success in this position is measured through the effectiveness of the project management team, compliance with PMO processes and standards, project delivery performance, stakeholder satisfaction, and the ongoing development and engagement of Project Management staff.

  1. Provide direct leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for Project Managers.
  2. Serve as the first level escalation point for project-related issues, risks, and stakeholder concerns.
  3. Ensure compliance with PMO methodologies, governance processes, and documentation standards.
  4. Monitor project portfolio health and proactively identify risks, resource conflicts, and delivery challenges.
  5. Facilitate collaboration between Project Managers, operational leaders, technical teams, and executive stakeholders.
  6. Support resource planning, workload balancing, and project prioritization efforts.
  7. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO.
  8. Assist with onboarding, training, and professional development of Project Managers.
  9. Promote accountability, transparency, and consistency across the project portfolio.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. B.S. Degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Science or related field OR five (5) years equivalent job experience.
  2. Three (3) years prior management or project management experience in a healthcare environment, healthcare systems consulting, or healthcare systems vendor setting.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. Six (6) plus years healthcare financial or clinical systems experience.
  2. Extensive experience in project management
  3. Excellent supervisory, communication, and interpersonal skills.
