IMEG is hiring a Crew Chief in Manassas, VA, to direct daily field crew activities, acquire survey field data, and complete assigned land surveying field projects. This role provides survey assistance under the leadership of an Office Coordinator or Senior Crew Chief.

You will oversee field operations, equipment, data quality, and crew training while supporting subsurface utility engineering, ALTA/as-builts, and construction surveying for data center and federal clients. The team also supports education and municipal activity.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee and perform day-to-day field crew operations to provide data for boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction stakeouts.
  • Operate, maintain, and care for survey equipment, data-collection equipment, geodetic equipment, and reality-capture equipment.
  • Transfer files between data collection and internal company project folders.
  • Complete quality checks and process field data, including downloading, maintaining, and verifying project data and reports.
  • Maintain professional and productive working relationships with clients and coworkers.
  • Oversee and train individuals to operate total stations, GPS, levels, and data collectors for field survey data collection.
  • Perform pre-field staking calculations and prepare as-staked cutsheets and deliverables as needed.
  • Operate a company vehicle.
  • Observe safety and security procedures.

What You'll Bring

Experience

  • 4 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the construction industry preferred

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of surveying fundamentals and procedures recognized in the region work is being performed
  • Knowledge of modern survey equipment, devices, and methods
  • Problem solving techniques
  • Knowledge of jurisdictional and industry requirements
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment
  • Possesses oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to professionally represent IMEG
  • Ability to collect field data in an organized, neat and professional manner for boundary, topographic, design and construction stakeout projects.
  • Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
  • Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays

Preferred

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering preferred
  • Experience with Trimble, Leica Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors and GPS preferred
  • RPLS/SI preferred but not required

  • Subsurface utility engineering, ALTA/as-builts, and construction surveying for data center and federal clients.
  • Project experience includes MWAA, NAVFAC, Pentagon-area work, and major data center campuses.
  • Strong education and municipal activity, including Leesburg-area school projects.
  • Recent work includes MWAA E-Line Sanitary Sewer, Government; QTS Manassas Data Center ALTA, Data Center; and Leesburg Elementary Renovation Survey, Education.

State of Virginia Pay Range: $24.00-$30.00 per hour

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.

Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
