Overview

Brooklyn & Queens Electric is seeking to recruit a highly motivated candidate who demonstrates a strong Commitment to Excellence and understands the vital importance of personal accountability.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Ensures implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed.
  • Plan, organize, schedule the assignment of personnel to optimize productivity and achieve operating goals.
  • Supervises the clerical functions including the maintaining of crew staffing data, job package preparation, work build-out and condition management, fulfillment of prerequisites, the making of customer appointments, time reporting, and data entry.
  • Ensures proper documentation of service contract usage within the region via Oracle software.
  • Coordinates all administrative responsibilities during storm restoration or during periods of electric system emergencies, including staffing, processing and input of information and providing statistical data.
  • Acts as liaison between Work and Resource Management, Construction, Operations, The Employee Wellness Center (EWC), Human Resources and Payroll on time and attendance issues including the processing of problems related to job content, skill requirements, work practices/assignments, and working conditions.
  • Provides input into the budget and training needs of employees and will assist in training employees to ensure proper implementation of work management systems and related Electric policies and procedures.
  • Participates in teams to develop/modify work management and other systems/processes to help control labor costs and ensure productivity improvement as needed and instills a customer service focus among subordinates and ensures compliance with the Code of Conduct, EEO and EH&S, substance abuse and disciplinary procedures by fostering a workplace environment that promotes professionalism, honesty, concern, courtesy, excellence and teamwork.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED and five years of experience in a relevant business or technical area or
  • Associate's Degree and four years of experience in a relevant business or technical area or
  • Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience in a relevant business or technical area.
Relevant Work Experience
  • General experience in Electric Construction or Electric Operations, preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience, preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must push, pull, lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for entire shift.
  • Must have excellent manual dexterity and be able to use hands for entire shift.
  • Must be available to report in-person during company emergencies/ICS (Incident Command System) events by performing a System Emergency Assignment. This includes traveling to company locations as necessary to support restoration efforts on morning/night 12 hour shifts. This requirement ensures operational effectiveness and continuity, particularly in response to critical events where in-person coordination is necessary.
