Purpose of the Role

Play an integral role in supporting the successful delivery of engineering and construction projects by ensuring materials, equipment, and services are procured efficiently, cost-effectively, and on schedule. As a Buyer I, you will work closely with experienced Supply Management professionals while continuing to build your procurement expertise. You'll help maintain supplier relationships, support purchasing activities, and ensure procurement processes align with project objectives and company standards.

Core Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing assigned purchasing activities in support of project and operational requirements.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and soliciting qualified suppliers for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Preparing, issuing, and administering purchase orders while ensuring compliance with company policies and project requirements.
  • Obtaining competitive pricing, negotiating within established authority, and supporting cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Monitoring supplier performance to ensure commitments related to quality, pricing, and delivery schedules are achieved.
  • Coordinating with engineering, project management, logistics, expediting, and other internal stakeholders to support project execution.
  • Following up with suppliers to resolve delivery issues, discrepancies, or commercial concerns in a timely manner.
  • Reviewing supplier documentation for completeness and accuracy throughout the procurement process.
  • Supporting invoice verification and providing appropriate documentation for payment approvals.
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing records and ensuring procurement documentation is complete and audit-ready.
  • Learning and applying Worley's procurement systems, processes, and best practices while continuously developing technical knowledge.
  • Identifying potential procurement risks and escalating issues to senior Supply Management personnel when appropriate.
  • Building productive working relationships with suppliers and internal project teams to support successful project outcomes.

What you'll bring to the role

To be successful in this role, you'll bring a combination of procurement knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative approach to supporting project teams.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Typically 3 or more years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience, preferably supporting engineering, construction, energy, chemicals, industrial, manufacturing, or EPC projects.
  • Working knowledge of procurement principles, purchasing processes, and supplier management practices.
  • Experience preparing purchase orders, obtaining supplier quotations, evaluating bids, and supporting commercial negotiations.
  • An understanding of procurement documentation, contract terms, and purchasing compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships across cross-functional teams and supplier organizations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to identify issues, recommend practical solutions, and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience using ERP or procurement systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar purchasing platforms is preferred.
  • A willingness to learn, develop professionally, and take on increasing responsibility within the Supply Management organization.
  • A collaborative mindset with a commitment to safety, integrity, and delivering exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.
