JOB DESCRIPTION GREAT LAKES MANAGEMENT COMPANY JOB TITLE: Bus Driver & Life Enrichment Assistant REPORTS TO: Life Enrichment Director/Executive Director FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt FTE: .5 Job Objective(s): The bus driver provides a safe, reliable transportation service for residents of the site. Qualifications
- Excellent driving record.
- Current driver's license
- Compliance with DOT requirements including drug testing.
- Experience working with seniors.
- CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to complete.
Driver Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible for safe, timely transportation to and from scheduled outings for residents.
- Ability to plan routes for outing destinations.
- Maintain bus systems prior to all excursions.
- Demonstrate professional and courteous conduct with all customers- residents, family members, visitors, physicians, co-workers, etc.
- Responsible for assisting supervisory staff with the practical orientation/training of the employees according to facility policy and procedure. Display a positive and supportive attitude when assisting new employees.
- Maintain CPR/ First Aid certifications.
- Understand and adhere to DOT alcohol and controlled substances policy including pre-employment and random drug testing producing negative results.
- Abide by all Colorado traffic laws and practices safe and defensive driving techniques at all times.
- Maintain the bus interior and exterior. Report maintenance in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Life Enrichment Responsibilities and Duties
- During days when there are minimal drives, assist with the facilitating/leading each event or program.
- Lead small, large, and one on one activity programs with seniors.
- Work cooperatively with assigned volunteers and direct their assignments to support the resident programming.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements (based on essential responsibilities) Must be able to frequently perform tasks such as, but not limited to, those listed below:
- Bend, squat to ground to pick up debris, adjust wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
- Discriminate colors to read traffic lights and traffic signs.
- Visual acuity of at least 20/40 in each eye, with or without corrective lenses.
Must be able to continuously perform tasks such as, but not limited to, those listed below:
- Move, push, pull and/or lift objects weighing 10 - 25 pounds.
- Use hands, arms and legs for pushing wheelchairs, safe assisted transfers of participants and simple grasping.
- Perform tasks requiring actions of muscles or groups of muscles to walk, stoop, bend, lift and to carry objects.
- Walk and/or stand and sit for prolonged periods of time
- Speak clearly and make self understood in face-to-face interactions
- See objects closely to read directions, instructions, perform documentation, identify traffic lights, signals, signs etc.
- Hear normal sounds and voices with some background noise to receive verbal instructions, answer telephones, communicate with others, etc.
Environment
- Works Indoors and Outdoors all four seasons.
Working Hours
- Typically, Tuesday through Friday with some evenings and weekends as required. Work hours vary based on programs planned and participant transportation needs.
