Life Enrichment Specialist Position Summary

The Life Enrichment Specialist serves as a key resource for communities by providing Life Enrichment leadership coverage during vacancies, leaves of absence, and transitions. This role ensures continuity of resident engagement, maintains quality programming, and supports operational success while communities recruit and onboard permanent Life Enrichment Directors.

In addition to providing coverage, the Life Enrichment Specialist is responsible for training, coaching, and mentoring newly hired Life Enrichment Directors. The specialist serves as the organization's TSO Champion and Dementia Champion, leading best practices in resident engagement, Memory Care programming, staff education, documentation, and social media storytelling.

Through hands-on support, training, audits, and quality improvement initiatives, the Life Enrichment Specialist helps elevate Life Enrichment programs, empower care teams, and create exceptional resident experiences across all communities.

Essential Responsibilities Community Support & Coverage
  • Provide Life Enrichment leadership coverage during vacancies, leaves of absence, and leadership transitions.
  • Maintain resident engagement, programming, and department operations while communities recruit permanent Life Enrichment Directors.
  • Assist communities with activity calendar development, implementation, and best practices.
  • Ensure communities maintain compliance with Life Enrichment regulations, company standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Help communities prepare for surveys and operational reviews.
New Life Enrichment Director Training & Onboarding
  • Serve as the primary trainer and mentor for newly hired Life Enrichment Directors.
  • Provide onboarding support and coaching during the first 30, 60, and 90 days.
  • Train new leaders on activity programming, budgeting, resident assessments, documentation, and department operations.
  • Support new Life Enrichment Directors in building confidence, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Share best practices and successful programming ideas across communities.
TSO Champion
  • Serve as the company expert and resource for TSO utilization and best practices.
  • Train Life Enrichment teams on assessments, attendance tracking, documentation, reporting, resident profiles, and calendar management.
  • Conduct routine audits to ensure accurate and consistent use of TSO.
  • Develop tools, resources, and training materials to improve TSO utilization.
  • Partner with community leaders to use engagement data to improve participation and resident outcomes.
  • Establish company-wide standards for Life Enrichment documentation and reporting.
Dementia Champion
  • Lead dementia education and engagement training for Life Enrichment teams and Resident Assistants.
  • Train staff on validation, redirection, sensory engagement, and person-centered dementia care practices.
  • Develop and implement Memory Care programming best practices across communities.
  • Create resources and activity toolkits that support meaningful engagement for residents living with dementia.
  • Support communities with resident engagement challenges and behavioral interventions.
  • Promote approaches that reduce resident isolation and increase purposeful engagement.
Resident Assistant Engagement & Dementia Training
  • Train Resident Assistants on meaningful engagement techniques and dementia best practices.
  • Teach staff how to incorporate activities and engagement opportunities throughout daily care routines.
  • Promote a culture where engagement extends beyond scheduled activities and becomes part of everyday interactions.
  • Develop Activity Champion programs within communities to support resident engagement outside of scheduled programming.
  • Create and implement "LED Off-Day" engagement plans and activity resources to ensure engagement continues when the Life Enrichment Director is not onsite.
  • Provide practical tools and training that empower care staff to create meaningful moments with residents throughout the day.
Resident Engagement Excellence
  • Support implementation of resident-centered programming based on residents' interests, preferences, and life stories.
  • Encourage interdisciplinary involvement in resident engagement and quality-of-life initiatives.
  • Develop strategies to increase participation and meaningful engagement across all levels of care.
  • Assist communities in creating innovative and purposeful programming that enhances resident well-being.
Staff Development & Coaching
  • Coach and mentor Life Enrichment Directors and Assistants.
  • Identify opportunities for professional development and process improvement.
  • Assist in developing future Life Enrichment leaders within the organization.
  • Facilitate educational opportunities and best-practice sharing among Life Enrichment teams.
Social Media & Community Storytelling
  • Coach Life Enrichment teams on creating engaging social media content that highlights resident life and community culture.
  • Share best practices for capturing resident activities, events, celebrations, and meaningful moments.
  • Assist communities in developing a consistent social media presence that supports occupancy, family engagement, and recruitment efforts.
  • Provide content ideas, seasonal campaigns, and activity-based posting calendars.
  • Ensure social media content aligns with company standards, resident privacy requirements, and brand guidelines.
  • Identify and share successful social media strategies across communities.
Quality Improvement & Innovation
  • Conduct Life Enrichment program audits and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop company-wide engagement initiatives, seasonal programming resources, and activity libraries.
  • Monitor trends and emerging best practices in senior living engagement and dementia care.
  • Support communities in creating exceptional resident experiences that enhance quality of life and family satisfaction.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement within Life Enrichment programming.
