The Lead Process Engineer serves as the technical leader and subject matter expert (SME) for process system design and manufacturing engineering activities. This role is responsible for leading and developing a team of Process Engineers while ensuring the quality, consistency, and technical excellence of engineering deliverables supporting the company's manufactured systems and products.

The Lead Process Engineer provides advanced technical guidance, establishes engineering standards, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and serves as the primary technical authority for process engineering matters. This position combines people leadership, technical expertise, and strategic engineering oversight to support product development, manufacturing operations, and customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the lead process engineering SME for assigned projects and products.
  • Lead the development, review, and approval of:
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Process calculations
    • Equipment specifications
    • Utility consumption calculations
    • Process narratives
    • Design basis documents
  • Provide technical background and write up to be used in system proposals
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and company procedures.
  • Support customer calls and meetings as a technical representative while being able to articulate technical applications that help sell our systems and expertise.
  • Establish and enforce engineering best practices, design standards, and quality expectations.
  • Support Engineering ECO documentation, analysis, and testing requirements
  • Work with Engineers and Vendors to review components and select/suggest new technology
  • Provide operational training to Engineering group
  • Support process simulation and studies including sizing and specification of process equipment. Analyze flow and function requirements and engineer solutions to meet these requirements.
  • Understand compliance to applicable codes, practices, performance standards and specifications
  • Explore and recommend alternate processes and equipment to improve throughput, quality and employee safety.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions
  • Work to improve product quality and operability and assist in the continued improvement of quality measurement systems.
  • Keep abreast of Semiconductor industry trends and technologies
  • Participate in groups to review and implement new and emerging technology\
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervise and develop a team of Process Engineers.
  • Assign project workload and balance resources across multiple projects.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical training.
  • Conduct performance reviews and establish employee development plans.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and standardization across the engineering team.
  • Establish quality expectations and review deliverables prior to issuance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

SPECIFICATIONS and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage simultaneous projects.
  • Must excel in a team environment, have strong communication and interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
  • Must be diligent, thorough, conscientious and goal oriented.
  • Must have demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all types and levels management.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • 7-10 years of progressively responsible process engineering experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of technical leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in semiconductor, life-science, pharmaceutical, specialty gas, industrial manufacturing, or cleanroom environments preferred.
  • Experience with Solid Works, PipeFlo, and AutoCAD preferred
  • Strong personal computer skills including experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience with design and system operation
  • Limited travel may be required to customer locations
