Maintenance Job Summary:As a key player in the Site Leadership Team reporting directly to the General Manager, the Maintenance Manager plays an important role in the overall leadership of the site by advancing a culture of safe, efficient and effective performance of the site's maintenance department.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating the maintenance department to maintain plant availability and on-stream factors necessary to achieve budgeted production and recovery while controlling costs. The role is responsible for establishing and promoting strong safety and environmental compliance in all maintenance activities among CF employees and all contractors who assist in maintenance activities. Major Responsibilities:

Environment, Health & Safety:

* Demonstrate safety leadership by empowering the team to enhance safety culture, creating an environment where all employees are openly engaged and striving toward a zero-incident worksite

* Develop and maintain a working knowledge of corporate, plant and relevant external policies and standards that apply to an operating and shipping facility and ensure compliance with requirements

* Demonstrate a 'shop floor' presence and leadership visibility, ensuring actions continually reinforce EHS performance is a core value

* Foster a culture of open, continuous learning and sharing from all EHS incidents, near misses and opportunities

People Leadership & Development:

* Provide leadership and support that encourages employee engagement, capability building, and continuous professional development to maximize individual and team performance.

* Ensure Maintenance Department employees are managed consistently with corporate and site policies and according to site managing principles

* Effectively manage people resources to provide optimum coverage for continuous safe, efficient operation of the assets

Maintenance and Reliability:

* Oversee Maintenance Department activities to ensure production units are supported in a safe and reliable manner. Provide maintenance services to all areas of the Blue Point site by staffing, equipping and operating the Maintenance department so that it is flexible and responsive to the needs of all operating areas utilizing predictive maintenance policies and practices in a safe and reliable manner

* Implement and advance a reliability centered maintenance organization and culture

* Ensure maintenance of highly hazardous chemical equipment in the plant is performed in accordance with the facility's Process Safety Management Mechanical Integrity Plan

* Conduct reviews of process safety regulations and develop methods of compliance as they relate to Mechanical Integrity and plant wide safety

* Responsible for long-range planning and execution of maintenance activities relative to turnarounds, expansions, etc.

* Complete plant maintenance turnarounds within the budgeted number of days planned. Maintain maintenance budget variance to -/+ 10%.

* Ensure budgets and schedules meet their planned objectives.

* Participate in capital/turnaround planning and ensure that the department supports Engineering and Operations throughout the process;

* Provide direction and assist in the continuous improvement of preventative maintenance programs.

Site Leadership Team:

* Actively participate as a member of the Site Leadership Team (SLT) representing the Maintenance department and contribute to the SLT from their area of expertise and experience

* Participate in strategic planning activities to establish priorities

* Own and execute relevant elements of strategic plan

Supervisory Relationships:

  • Position Reports To: General Manager, Blue Point
  • Subordinate Positions: I&E Superintendent, Rotating Superintendent, Admin, Mech Superintendent, 12 indirect and 13 contractors

Incumbent Attributes:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of directly related experience in maintenance leadership in manufacturing.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a managerial role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft IT environment including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Willingness to relocate to the project site (driving distance) and travel globally as needed
  • Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)
  • Ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are required. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel of all backgrounds.
  • Strong change management skills, strong analytical and decision-making abilities, and ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with regulatory authorities.
  • Work involves climbing ladders, stairs and use of safety harnesses.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and be self-motivated to the highest level possible.
