Overview
Microsoft is committed to its 2030 sustainability goals as it builds infrastructure to deliver cutting-edge cloud and AI solutions to customers around the world. As Director, Global Energy and Sustainability Policy on the Energy and Sustainability Policy Team, you will help lead the development of policy positions, advocacy strategies, and partnerships that support the expansion of electricity and datacenter infrastructure, advance Microsoft's sustainability priorities globally, and shape carbon removal policy advocacy. This role requires a strategic and action-oriented thinker with expertise in U.S. electricity markets, federal and state regulatory issues, stakeholder engagement, and global policy advocacy. You will also work closely with teams globally to develop positions and advocacy strategies on electricity systems, grid and datacenter infrastructure, carbon removal policy, and emerging datacenter sustainability regulations. The role includes tracking FERC and organized wholesale market developments and translating those developments for state government affairs teams to help shape legislative and regulatory strategies that advance Microsoft's objectives in the states. In addition, the role will partner with colleagues across international markets, Microsoft business groups, trade associations, and non-government stakeholders to translate complex technical and regulatory energy and sustainability developments into actionable policy and business strategy. Corporate Social Responsibility IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $132,200 - $258,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,800 - $278,900 per year.
