Position Summary
  • Our Pediatric Medical/Surgical Float pool offers a unique opportunity to expand your pediatric knowledge, caring for patients across all inpatient units. Each shift brings variety and opportunities to work with new colleagues, and to further develop and learn new skills. Orientation is approximately 12 weeks with both Float Pool and Unit-Based preceptors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing competent nursing care to patients (newborn - adult) and their families across all inpatient settings including the surgical, medical, oncology, bone marrow transplant, intermediate care, neuroscience, cardiology Behavioral Health Emergency Department, and Inpatient Psychiatry units.
  • Potential for cross training in additional areas including various procedural units, and the Emergency Department.
  • Delivering family-centered care as a member of a multidisciplinary team that provides expert care.
  • Working in a fast paced, collaborative environment with many opportunities for learning and career growth with comprehensive orientation to meet individual needs.
  • Opportunities to be involved in hospital wide committees and to precept new staff and nursing students.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing
Experience:
  • A minimum of 1-year inpatient acute care RN experience required with a wide range of diagnoses preferred. Pediatrics RN experience preferred.
  • Ability to work 50% Day/Night rotations, every third weekend, and flexibility of availability required. Straight nights with every third weekend also available. 24, 30 or 36 hours available.

Licensure/Certifications
  • Current Massachusetts license as a Registered Nurse (RN)

***Additional $8.00/ hour incentive for all clinical hours worked.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
