What to Expect
The Quality Engineer will work as a member of Tesla's Fremont Quality Engineering organization. The primary objective of this role is to support the production of high quality electric vehicles through the continual improvement of process and product quality and the systems that surround them. The successful candidate for this position must be a problem-solver at his/her core, have a strong quality & customer-focused mindset, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continual improvement (personally and professionally).
What You'll Do
- Lead cross-functional problem solving teams to drive process and product improvements; use of QA methodologies to manage and facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions
- Establish and maintain quality performance metrics
- Develop and implement quality standards as part of the Tesla Quality System to assure products meet expectations of our target customers
- Support the development of product specifications and tolerances, design and process FMEAs and DVAs
- Establish and maintain control plans and inspection standards to assure critical features are controlled through the assembly/production processes
- Lead/facilitate review and disposition of discrepant materials identified for control of nonconforming product
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow daily housekeeping and 5S standards
- Promote and maintain a culture and attitude of continuous improvement, working within the Tesla team to make it more efficient, safer and an enjoyable place to work
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Qualitysystems experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred)
- Specific training and demonstrated success in applyingqualityproblem solving methods such as fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc.
- Experience with broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques
- Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
- Ability, willingness to travel domestically, and internationally (5% to 10%)
- Must be detail oriented, effectively handle multiple priorities, have a strong quality mindset and have the ability to meet tight deadlines

Expected Compensation
$84,000 - $180,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
