Job Description

Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Administrative Assistant to join our team. As a Senior Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for issuing official correspondence, coordinating travel, managing calendars, monitoring email, and performing a variety of other administrative tasks to support the subdivision and broader Reactor Servicing Systems department. The work also entails applying administrative skills and knowledge of policies, practices, and procedures to enhance organizational effectiveness.



What your day looks like:



  • Prepare and issue official correspondence, including letters, various report documents, and memorandums, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established guidelines and procedures.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for management and engineering staff, including booking flights, hotels, rental cars, managing expense reports, and other travel-related services.
  • Answer and screen phone calls and emails, directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel and providing information as needed.
  • Maintain files and records, ensuring that documents are organized, easily accessible and referenceable.
  • Provide general administrative support, including copying, scanning, and mailing documents, as well as ordering office supplies and coordinating the maintenance of office equipment as needed.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or
  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong work ethic and dedication to an organization and its mission.
  • Self-starter that proactively engages in work.
  • Current or previous administrative assistant experience.
  • Flexibility to support urgent, time-sensitive correspondence as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a mission driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, with the confidence and ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel at multiple sites.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing calendars, scheduling appointments, meetings, and other events as needed.
  • Familiarity with Concur and SharePoint.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Pay Range
$52,300.00 - $78,500.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
