Maintenance Supervisor

Located in Kent Washington, Protective Coatings Inc. is a leading provider of full service finishing for the aerospace, electronics and medical industries in both commercial and defense applications. Position Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor will conduct analysis to identify and implement continual improvement activities; and represent the Company with our customers, suppliers, and certifying agencies. The Maintenance Supervisor shall be familiar with all operating systems including; shot peening machinery and equipment maintenance, paint component mixing systems, HVAC systems, air compressors and dryers, and rectifier systems, to name a few. The supervisor will be expected to perform welding applications such as stick, MIG and TIG welding, and will provide for special tooling concepts and fabrications. Other responsibilities will include maintenance and installation of monitoring and control equipment such as temperature controls, metering systems, and electrical heating and timer systems for production tanks. The supervisor will be expected to mentor and train lower level technicians, facilitate, and give direction for the Facilities department based on production needs. Reporting Relationships:

The Maintenance Supervisor will report to the Maintenance Manager.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the integrity of all processing tanks are maintained in the highest order and reporting any discrepancies to both Production and Quality Management
• Ensuring the mechanical equipment, i.e. the overhead crane, air compressors, company-owned vehicles, air lines, etc. are maintained in good, safe, working order at all times
• Working with outside contractors, as authorized, to maintain the working condition of company-owned equipment
• Maintaining the cleanliness of paint booths and filters as required
• Ensuring the safety of the processing and office areas at all times, i.e. inspection of duck boards, air lines, water lines, etc. and repair those items as required and/or directed by Production and/or Quality Management
• Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
• Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination by forklift or crane.
• Operates forklift or crane to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Safely operates facilities equipment such as power tools, hoists, cranes, forklifts, and scissor lifts.
• Complete knowledge and maintenance of entire facilities systems including; powder coating system, In-line paint mixing system, vapor degreaser, solvent distiller system, HVAC systems, plating/anodize rectifier systems, processing tank electric heater and timer systems, shot peen machines, and NDT on-demand hot water system.
• Operation of production facilities equipment including: ovens, dryer and oven controls, immersion tanks and controls, air compressors, and paint booths and make-up air units.
• Orders and inventories materials, tools, accessories, and parts to support production facility departments, machinery, and equipment.
• Performs equipment maintenance on such items as air compressors
• Performs plumbing and maintenance to facilities water piping systems.
• Knowledge and performance of electrical work to facilities and machinery.
• Perform repairs and service maintenance of machinery and equipment.
• Studies production schedules, and estimates repair and work completion to better schedule around production.
• Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
• Will be exposed to various cleaning and production chemicals/odors and occasional fumes, wet/humid conditions (indoors), outside weather conditions, and moderate noise level.
• Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.
• Conduct inspections of the facility to identify and resolve issues.
• Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities.
• Familiarity in drafting and understanding blueprints and schematics
• Frequently is required to sit or stand, reach with hands and arms, and balance. Frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Frequently exposed to airborne particles.
• Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.
• Computer skills and experience with MS Suite and Maintenance PM Software
• Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, good cooperative skills.
• Ability to direct, train, and mentor employees.

• Systems familiarity of entire facility which include: dust collection systems, chemical fume scrubbers, chemical tank chiller system, abrasive blast systems, powder coating system, In-line paint mixing system, vapor degreaser, solvent distiller system, HVAC systems, plating/anodize rectifier systems, processing tank electric heater and timer systems, shot peen machines, and NDT on-demand hot water system.

Level of Education:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• BS/BA in facility management, engineering, business administration or relevant field preferred
• 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
