Job Summary

Able to assess and monitor the nutritional status of patients as it relates to disease state including patients on enteral and parenteral nutrition. They will be proficient in counseling and instructing patients and their families according to their prescribed diet. Must be able to adapt standard diets to individual physical, cultural, socioeconomic conditions and religious preferences.

Conduct Comprehensive Nutrition Assessments
- Complete nutrition assessments and Nutrition Focused Physical Exams to determine nutritional status and identify malnutrition or related risks.
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans in accordance with departmental policies and evidence-based guidelines.
- Manage parenteral and enteral nutrition support for patients.

Coordinate Nutrition Care and Patient Education
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care and ensure appropriate nutrition interventions.
- Provide nutrition education to patients and families, considering cultural preferences and learning needs.
- Participate in assigned care rounds or meetings.

Participate in Departmental Development and Quality Initiatives
- Engage in departmental education sessions and journal clubs to maintain current clinical knowledge.
- Contribute to quality and productivity improvement projects to support departmental goals.
- Precept dietetic interns and provide education and training to new dietitians.
- Lead or assist with departmental projects and initiatives aimed at improving quality, efficiency, and clinical practice.

Lead and Coordinate Medical Nutrition Therapy department
- Serve as team lead for the clinical dietitian staff by coordinating daily responsibilities and distributing workload to ensure appropriate coverage and continuity of patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from an accredited institution

  • Masters degree from an accredited institution if you became a dietitian after January 1st, 2024

  • Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration

  • Licensed by Georgia's State Board of Licensed Dietitians Commission on Dietetic Registration
