Supervisor, Inventory Control (6577) Job Function Summary

Administers and operates the organization's warehouses, including processing, packaging and storage of supplies, materials and equipment.

This position oversees warehouse functions supporting the organization's generation facilities, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant management of materials, equipment and inventory across generation operations.

Supervises the daily activities of business support, technician and/or production teams. Sets priorities to ensure task completion, coordinates work activities with other supervisors, and makes decisions guided by established policies, procedures and the local business plan. Receives guidance and oversight from management and typically does not perform the work being supervised.

Key Responsibilities: Warehouse, Materials Management and Administrative Leadership
  • Supervises bargaining unit employees across multiple warehouse locations responsible for:
    • Issuing, receiving and returning materials and parts
    • Inventory stocking and replenishment
    • Cycle counting and inventory accuracy
    • Obsolete material removal
    • Inventory management system transactions
  • Oversees warehouse operations supporting generation facilities, ensuring material availability for maintenance, operations and capital projects.
  • Supervises teams responsible for:
    • Capital equipment lifecycle management
    • Asset record creation and maintenance
    • Asset disposition tracking
    • Tool and material refurbishment
  • Provides strategic direction to exempt employees, monitors progress and adjusts priorities as needed.
Warehouse and Inventory Operations
  • Ensures warehouse operations are conducted safely, efficiently and in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Maintains warehouse and inventory management standards while supporting internal customers and external business needs.
  • Oversees:
    • Asset recovery functions
    • Annual dead stock reviews
    • Storeroom audits
    • Compliance with inventory policies and procedures
  • Researches industry best practices, emerging technologies and operational improvements.
  • Implements continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, reduce costs and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with company inventory control policies.
  • Manages logistics for transportation of materials and equipment.
  • Directs inventory demand planning and stocking strategies.
  • Partners with multiple departments to ensure efficient material flow and customer service.
  • Maintains ownership of inventory system processes and inventory training certifications.
Administrative Operations
  • Develops, monitors and manages operating, maintenance and capital budgets.
  • Leads hiring activities including recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, training and performance management.
  • Reviews and approves employee time sheets.
  • Reviews inventory transactions exceeding established approval thresholds.
  • Reviews cycle count adjustments to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Maintains employee records and documentation.
  • Allocates staffing resources across warehouse locations based on operational needs.
  • Approves employee expenses.
  • Administers contracts and vendor relationships.
  • Resolves material flow issues with external suppliers.
  • Oversees inventory management system administration.
Labor Relations
  • Serves as the primary liaison between represented employees and management.
  • Interprets and administers collective bargaining agreements.
  • Supports labor negotiations and employee relations activities.
Safety Leadership
  • Promotes a strong safety culture throughout warehouse operations.
  • Ensures employees receive appropriate safety training.
  • Monitors compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Actively supports continuous improvement of safety performance.
Financial Management
  • Monitors expenditures and budget performance.
  • Identifies budget variances and implements corrective actions.
  • Ensures financial objectives are achieved.
Project Leadership
  • Represents warehouse and inventory business processes during company initiatives.
  • Leads infrastructure improvement projects and warehouse operational enhancements.
Emergency Response and Restoration
  • Participates in company storm restoration activities.
  • Supports warehouse emergency preparedness and business continuity efforts.
Workforce Planning
  • Implements workforce planning and staffing decisions.
  • Partners with Human Resources on:
    • Position planning

    • Job evaluations
Employee Development
  • Coaches and develops employees.
  • Assists employees with career development plans.
  • Monitors employee development progress.

Education and Experience: Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience
  • Five or more years of experience in warehousing, supply chain, purchasing or administrative operations.
  • Experience leading warehouse operations in an industrial, utility, manufacturing or generation environment is preferred.
