AMR is offering a unique opportunity for individuals interested in a rewarding career in pre-hospital medicine.

91% of AMR students that successfully completed the course are still currently happily employed, so far 20% of them have taken the opportunity to pursue their Paramedic certification.

What is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)?

The primary focus of the EMT is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individualpossessesthe basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation, and functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight. An EMT performs interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance and is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.

About the Program:

The eligible candidate will be hired as a full-time employee andcompensateda training wage while in attendance at the EMT Academy, sponsored by AMR. The academy is a rigorous six-week program which qualifies the employee to take the National Registry of EMT exam.Upon successful completion of the National Registry EMT exam, the employee will apply foraMontanaState EMCT-EMT Basic Certification. There is no cost for theclassand all books, tuition, fees, and uniforms will be paid by AMR. Upon successful completion of the class, all tests and state certification, the employee will be transferred to an EMT position.

*This program will begin8/31/2026.*Training is about 4 months, goes into December

- EXAMPLE - Students will attend orientation at AMR Billings operations first on August 28thbefore starting classes atBillings, Montana OperationsonAugust 31st (Address:1701 Montana Ave, Billings, Montana 59101). Orientation and class start dates to follow. EMT Academy is an instructor-led, hands-on training program that is helda couple of daysa week,Tuesdayand Thursday6pm to 10 pm

Candidate prerequisite requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Have a HS diploma or GED

  • Have a validMontanaDriver License with NO Restrictions

  • Successfully complete thorough pre-employment screening which includes motor vehicle and criminal background checks, drugtestingand a physical agility test(PLEASE NOTE:Drugscreening includes THC/Marijuana. Applicants who test positive for THC/Marijuana will be disqualified)

  • Sign12-monthservice commitment/agreementcontract

What happens after passing the course?

After successful completion of the course, the employee will be eligible to take a written and skills test through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Once certified by the NREMT, the employee will thensubmitthe required documentation to the state to obtain theirMontanaEMCT-EMT Basic certification.

Upon receipt of the State ofMontanaEMCT-EMT Basic certification, the employee will receive their full-time position assignment within the AMRMontanabusiness unit. They will also qualify for benefits including:
