Target hiring range for this position will be between $23.20-$28.99 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Job Summary:

Coordinates & completes the day to day administrative & technical activities involved in a single complex, large, nationwide or multiple moderately complex concurrent biomedical &/or social-behavioral research study(ies) involving multiple sites &/or longitudinal assessments/interventions. Ensures that all activities are completed by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).

Dr. Callie Walsh-Bailey's team in the Department of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is seeking a Senior Research Study Coordinator to support a diverse research portfolio focused on closing gaps between what is known and what is done ("know-do gaps") in healthcare delivery-also known as implementation science. This position will work across two projects focused on understanding and improving the delivery of evidence-based practices to improve care for complex chronic health conditions, including cancer and diabetes.

The Senior Research Study Coordinator will be responsible for various day-to-day study research operations, including overseeing participant recruitment and enrollment; conducting qualitative interviews; maintaining qualitative and quantitative research data; assisting with IRB documentation and compliance; conducting literature reviews; coordinating study team meetings; creating and maintaining study record keeping systems and tracking study deliverables and timelines. The coordinator will support the study team and collaborating partners by scheduling meetings and providing meeting minutes in a timely manner. The coordinator will have opportunities to contribute to conference presentations, manuscript writing, and other dissemination activities. As such, the Senior Research Study Coordinator must have impeccable organization, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills as well as strong attention to detail. All applicants must be able to demonstrate familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and web-based applications. Working knowledge of REDCap, as well as design and data visualization skills are encouraged. This position would be ideal for individuals looking to pursue an MPH or PhD in public health, health services research, or another related discipline; planning to attend medical school in the future; or interested in pursuing a career as research staff (e.g., becoming a project manager in the future).

Specific Responsibilities:

Technical

• Participates in the planning & conduct of research studies.
• Reviews project & protocol & recommends strategies to expedite study.
• Recruits & retains participants.
• Obtains informed consent.
• Administers tests &/or questionnaires following protocols.
• Collects, compiles, tabulates &/or process responses.
• Gathers information.
• Monitors & maintains systems for effective participant and data flow for studies.

Administration

• Manages study databases which may include ensuring that data is collected & entered correctly.
• Reviews & analyzes data.
• Creates computer models, graphs, reports & summaries for use in publications, professional journals, & grant applications.
• Co-authors scientific papers for presentation & publication.
• Creates & maintains study manuals regarding operating, safety, and etc. procedures.
• Ensures that all study documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols are completed in a timely manner.

Finance

• May process payments for research participants per study protocol.

Supervision

• Acts as a mentor in regard to education of junior coordinators.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

• Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 4 years' research study or other relevant experience required; OR
• Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 2 years' research study or other relevant experience.
• Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

• Strong organizational, written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and web-based applications.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)

• At least 2 years of research experience, such as experience with: participant recruitment and enrollment, quantitative and/or qualitative data collection (e.g., administering surveys and interviews), qualitative coding and analyses, coordinating with various members of a study team (e.g., research staff and investigators), maintaining qualitative and/or quantitative research data, assisting with IRB documentation and compliance, or contributing as co-authors on reports, presentations, and publications

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

• Knowledge about and/or experience with implementation research.
