DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on managing timekeeping and payroll processes that support county employees and ensure accurate records. The work blends problem solving, communication, and careful review to help staff understand pay and leave requirements. As a County Timekeeper, you will perform the following duties:
- Payroll Entry: Enter payroll information and resolve timekeeping issues for county employees
- Record Review: Prepare reports, verify completed payrolls, and check leave balances for accuracy
- Issue Resolution: Identify pay or leave errors then provide clear guidance on how to correct them
- Policy Guidance: Explain pay rules, leave codes, and contract requirements to employees and supervisors
- Report Preparation: Compile payroll, leave, and quota reports used for year-end and periodic reviews
- Documentation Handling: Manage forms, schedules and records related to FMLA, Workers Compensation, and work schedule changes

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires keyboarding skills to meet standards for speed and accuracy.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience working with SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products) for timekeeping
- Experience working with union or contract provisions resulting in variations for pay rates or entitlements
- At least one year of moderately complex or advanced clerical experience with timekeeping or payroll for more than 20 employees
- At least one year of moderately complex or advanced clerical experience with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, and TEAMS)
- At least one year of experience sorting, filing, and retrieving documents using a specific system
- At least two years of customer service experience with inquiries from the general public
