Job Summary
Processes RFQs and purchase orders to vendors, talking to vendors and other departments, examining price, suitability, and availability of items or services, comparing specifications, and reviewing alternatives to fulfill demand or other objectives. Compiles information, and records to prepare purchase orders for procurement of materials. Plans and coordinates receipt and inventory of material to ensure on-time delivery of purchased parts from vendors while maintaining assigned inventory levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Processes purchase orders for items purchased, prices, deliveries, and inventories.
- Prepare purchasing documentation and verify nomenclature and specifications of purchasing requisitions.
- Support continuous replenishment strategies with assigned suppliers.
- Supports supplier rationalization plans and transition to existing and/or new suppliers.
- Support, and when required lead, cost reduction projects and improvement initiatives to achieve overall business objectives.
- Update and maintain purchase orders in Materials Resource Planning (MRP) system for changes in design and delivery requirements.
- Balance current and future demand requirements with supplier capabilities / capacities to ensure on-time delivery of purchased parts.
- Analyze data, including enterprise requirements, planning information, and prepare reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure optimal supply chain execution.
- Supports shortage meetings when needed and expedites purchased items when required to meet shortfall between current plan and customer order requirements.
- Works with identified vendors for improved delivery, quality, lead time, and price performance. Evaluates these metrics with the critical suppliers regularly.
- Comply with plant safety procedures to ensure a safe environment.
- Improve internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Comply with Supply Chain and Purchasing procedures and Quality System requirements.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Business or Engineering highly preferred or equivalent work experience.
- 1-3 years experience in a Manufacturing or Aerospace facility.

- 1-3 years work experience as a buyer.

- Should have a working knowledge of FAR/DFAR U.S. Government procurement procedures.
- Proficient user of computers and computer software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work and/or internship experience in Supply Chain Management.
- CPSM or CPM certification, preferred.
- Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
- Familiarity/experience with lean manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement techniques (e.g., RCCA, Six Sigma methodology).
- Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO-9001.
- Use of and deployment of electronic data interchange procurement and continuous replenishment methods.
- Excellent planning, interpersonal, and communication skills are required.
- Results driven with excellent project and time management skills.
- APICS or ISM certification preferred.
