Opportunity:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Temporary AV Support Specialist on the Daytona Beach Campus. This position will last approximately 4-6 months and will assist with replacing security cameras as part of the technology refresh project. This includes removing existing cameras, installing new cameras, and verifying that the feed is live in MaxPro. The position may also provide audio-visual event and operational support during high-volume periods or when additional staffing is required.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Replace security cameras in coordination with the AV Manager. Remove existing cameras and process surplus equipment according to standard procedures. Install replacement cameras and verify that each camera is operational and providing a live feed in MaxPro. Update appropriate inventory systems to reflect the status of deployed and replaced systems. Assist with projects as assigned. Work could involve supporting onsite and offsite projects and after normal business hours.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of progress in the ticket database. Participate in project status meetings. Provide regular project updates. Communicate issues, critical problems, and situations to appropriate management levels.

  • Provide audio-visual event support during high-volume periods or when additional staffing is needed. Assist with event setup, equipment operation, customer support, troubleshooting, and teardown under the direction of AV staff. Support may include evening, weekend, or other work outside normal business hours.

This is a temporary position; employment will not exceed six months, and the position is limited to 30 hours per week based on seasonal or project-driven workloads. Working hours and schedule will be based on the needs of the temporary workload.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate with various levels of personnel to understand the problem and complete written documentation that is geared appropriately to the audience.

  • Professional, positive image.

  • Strong AV troubleshooting skills, including both hardware and software.

  • Basic knowledge of networking.

  • Knowledge of software, including office productivity tools (e.g., MS Office), and web conferencing (Teams, Zoom).

  • Experience with security camera installation or similar low-voltage audiovisual equipment is required.

  • Ability to tactfully handle difficult situations and ability to maintain composure under pressure.

  • Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities based on new work assigned.

  • Work independently and with little direct supervision.

  • Ability to work from ladders and elevated locations and lift up to 40 pounds.
