The Fisheries Research Scholar will analyze and interpret previously collected telemetry-tag data on reef fishes within a fine-scale positioning study. Additionally, the research scholar will write manuscripts on the results of these analyses for the peer-reviewed literature.

Work Schedule Up to 40/hrs per week, Monday-Friday
Other Work/Responsibilities

Minimum Experience/Education
  • Ph.D. (or relevant terminal degree), or Relevant Master's degree with at least 5 years of formal postdegree professional work experience
Department Required Skills

  • Experience analyzing acoustic telemetry data from marine or freshwater fish populations
  • Experience using Innovasea FATHOM software for two-dimensional fish positioning
  • Experience visualizing and interpreting three-dimensional movement data from telemetry-tagged fish
  • Demonstrated proficiency programming in R
  • Experience developing Bayesian multistate models for simulation and parameter estimation
  • Knowledge of fisheries ecology, movement ecology, and population dynamics
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience analyzing fisheries data and writing and publishing peer-reviewed manuscript
