Job Summary:



The Department of Mathematics in the School of Computer Science and Mathematics at Marist University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics or Statistics Education at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to begin in the Fall of 2027.



Minimum Qualifications:



Candidates must have adoctoral degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics, Statistics Education, or a closely related field. We will consider ABDs in an appropriate field who will complete their dissertation within one year of hire.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarly work is required.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.



Essential Functions:



Applicants should have the abilityto teach in multiple areas of mathematics with a significant disciplinary expertise in statistics and the teaching of statistics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the introductory statistics program. (Over 1000 students take introductory statistics in more than 35 sections every year.)

Required duties besides teaching and researchinclude engagement in university and professional services such as advising/mentoring students, and serving on department, school, or university committees.



Preferred Qualifications:



We seek candidates with significant disciplinary expertise in statistics and pedagogical knowledge of best practices in statistics education. In addition to research in Statistics, candidates with interdisciplinary research programs in applied areas of Machine Learning and Data Sciences are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a robust track record of publications and/or the potential to develop a strong research agenda will receive preference.

    • Typical eligibility requirements: 1 year of service and 1,000 hours with Marist University.


  • 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity - Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.
  • Tuition Benefits:

    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
    • University pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
