Business Development & Client Engagement Manager!

The person hired for this position will assist Aon's U.S. Construction & Infrastructure practice on a national scale. Located in Chicago and reporting to the C&I Chief Commercial Officer, this individual will collaborate with senior leaders, producers, marketing teams, operations colleagues, carrier partners, and clients to promote growth objectives.

This position integrates growth initiatives, consultative sales, customer relationship management, client engagement, content marketing, and performance analysis. The successful candidate will convert market and client insights into effective strategies that strengthen connections, produce qualified opportunities, improve sales efficiency, and drive revenue growth!

*****This hybrid role (2-3 days onsite weekly) from a local Aon office.

What the day will look like

  • Develop and implement business development, lead generation, and prospecting strategies that identify qualified opportunities, support client acquisition, and expand relationships with existing accounts.
  • Partner with producers and business leaders on account strategies, strategic selling, opportunity qualification, cross-selling, client retention, and structured sales processes that support pipeline growth and improved conversion.
  • Design and facilitate executive-level client engagement programs, including client councils, roundtables, industry forums, webinars, executive dinners, sponsorships, and thought leadership initiatives that strengthen relationships and Aon's market presence.
  • Use AonConnect and other CRM and reporting tools to manage customer relationships and track pipeline activity. Analyze client and revenue data to forecast potential outcomes. Measure return on investment and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Carry out market research and competitive analysis, prepare project proposals and cases, and partner with internal and external groups to agree on priorities. Discuss agreements, arrange resources, and lead initiatives that promote strong growth.

Skills and Experiences that will lead to success

  • Proven background in business development, sales, account management, client engagement, strategic marketing, or professional services, including identifying prospects, generating leads, qualifying opportunities, and supporting revenue growth.
  • Managing professional partnerships requires strong skills such as understanding customer needs and developing account strategies. It also means influencing executive collaborators, negotiating mutually beneficial agreements, and building lasting relationships with clients, carriers, sponsors, and internal partners.
  • Experience using CRM platforms, pipeline reporting, market research, competitive analysis, and data analysis to generate insights, forecast opportunities, inform decisions, and improve customer relationship management and sales outcomes.
  • Strong project management and meeting facilitation capabilities, including defining objectives, developing project proposals and supporting arguments, creating plans and timelines, coordinating resources, guiding discussions, monitoring progress, and delivering measurable results.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and content development skills. Able to turn complex information into clear recommendations. Can align sales and operational priorities and engage audiences at various levels of an organization.

Education

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $100,000 - $150,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
